About Your Trip

Head offshore from Islamorada with Captain James for 6 or 8 hours of fishing along the reefs, wrecks, and deeper waters of the Florida Keys! These trips focus on targeting some of the area's most exciting game fish, with Captain James adjusting the day's approach based on conditions, seasonal patterns, and what's biting.

Your adventure begins with a run to the bait grounds to fill the livewells, typically taking about an hour. From there, you'll head toward the reef edge and offshore waters in search of sailfish, mahi mahi, blackfin tuna, kingfish, and other seasonal species. Depending on conditions, you might also encounter wahoo, amberjack, and false albacore. Captain James also likes to keep a bottom rod ready for mutton snapper and grouper when in season, giving you opportunities to target different species throughout the trip.

You'll fish aboard a 32' Contender powered by twin 300 HP Yamaha outboards, accommodating up to 6 passengers. The boat features an open cockpit with plenty of room to fish, a marlin tower for spotting fish, Garmin electronics, outriggers, and live baitwells. There's also a fully air-conditioned cabin, enclosed bathroom, refrigerator, and comfortable seating for breaks between bites.

Captain James brings a versatile approach to every trip, combining South Florida light-tackle techniques with his Northeast sportfishing background. Depending on the bite, you may find yourself live-baiting, trolling, kite fishing, jigging, or bottom fishing. The 6-hour option offers a solid opportunity to explore the reef and nearby offshore waters, while the 8-hour trip allows additional time to pursue fish farther beyond the reef edge and adjust locations throughout the day.

All rods, reels, tackle, bait, lures, fishing licenses, and catch cleaning are included. Some water and Gatorade are provided, but you're encouraged to bring additional drinks and snacks. A first mate may be available for longer trips, with a customary 20% gratuity.

All rods, reels, and tackle are included, but we also recommend bringing sunglasses, sunscreen, weather-appropriate clothing, and any gear of your own you want to use on the trip.

You're all set! You don't need to buy a license for this trip.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

Cancel for free up to 3 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 3 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.

In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.

If they decide the trip needs to be postponed, we'll work closely with you to reschedule or provide a credit for the full deposit, which can be applied to any of our trips in the US and beyond.

Each trip's price is determined by the guide and reflects all associated costs. A significant factor in pricing is often the type of boat and the corresponding fuel expenses. Additional costs may include leases, marina or slip fees, and the expenses involved in providing and maintaining the necessary gear for your trip.
