About Your Trip

Nestled on the banks of the renowned Naknek River, just outside Katmai National Park, this lodge offers quick access to ocean-fresh salmon and trophy rainbow trout in the heart of Bristol Bay. Your adventure includes guided fishing
with expert fly fishermen who provide top-tier equipment from brands like Orvis, Simms, and Hatch. Customize your experience with a variety of techniques, from jet boating and fly fishing to float plane excursions to pristine rivers like the Alagnak, Moraine, and Kulik. Every trip includes a visit to the famous Brooks River, combining world-class trout fishing with breathtaking bear viewing opportunities.

Daily Routine:
Start with breakfast at 7 AM, fish all day with a shore lunch, and return for dinner at 6:30 PM. Options for the next day’s adventure are discussed each evening. The guides will discuss the fishing options available for the next day. You will then choose the best option for you and, weather permitting, they will make it happen.

What’s Included:
- Airport transfers (King Salmon)
- Expert licensed guides
- All gear, tackle, flies, and waders (limited sizes available)
- Daily maid service, meals, and fish cleaning/vacuum packing

Not Included:
Flights to King Salmon, fishing licenses, taxes, tips, alcohol, and insulated fish boxes (available for purchase).

What to Bring:
Breathable waders, a rain jacket, layers for variable weather, and a backpack. If you prefer, bring your own rods and flies for a personal touch—detailed recommendations are provided for targeting trout, salmon, and char.

If You Bring Your Own Fly Rod and Gear:
- 5-6 Weight Rods: Ideal for small streams and fly-outs. Use indicators for nymphing or a 9-ft leader with small streamers or mouse patterns. Flies include traditional nymphs and dry flies in summer, shifting to natural-colored beads (6-10mm) during egg seasons. Streamers with stinger hooks and bead/cone heads are effective with floating lines.
- 7-8 Weight Rods: Perfect for the Naknek River or larger rivers. Use floating lines or 250-300 grain sink tips for streamers. Must-have flies include streamers like Sex Dungeons, String Leeches, and Dolly Lamas (trim front hooks for single-hook compliance).
- 9 Weight Rods: Best for salmon. For Kings, rig with 350-grain or heavy sink tips and bright, large flies. For Silvers and Chums, use floating lines with bright patterns. Sockeye require nymphing setups with strong hooks; use Pheasant Tails, Wooly Buggers, egg flies, and other classic Salmon/Steelhead nymphs.
- Intruder Flies: Essential for most salmon species (except Sockeye). Use pink, orange, or chartreuse flies with stinger hooks and weighted eyes. Sockeye-specific patterns include large, durable nymphs.
- Spey Rods: A favorite here! Use 7-8 weights with Skagit heads and sink tips for trout, paired with sculpin or leech flies. For Kings, 8-9 weights with bright Intruder patterns are the go-to choice.

Whether you're chasing giant rainbows, targeting multiple salmon species, or immersing yourself in untouched Alaskan wilderness, this lodge offers the ultimate fishing getaway for anglers of all skill levels. Don’t forget your camera—this is more than just a fishing trip; it’s a true Alaskan adventure!

There are literally dozens and dozens of companies worldwide offering sportfishing tours in Alaska and Russia nowadays. The majority of these are reputable organizations capable of providing a satisfactory angling vacation. But very few can match us for the kind of fishing experience we offer and the number of years we have been in business. We have been doing tours for 35 years and in the process have developed an unmatched expertise in delivering the very finest wild fishing and intimate wilderness experiences possible. No fishing lodge or semi-permanent camp working the same tired stretches of water day in and day out with noisy jet boats can possibly offer you the same kind of experience we can floating remote wild rivers and sampling untouched water each day! It’s that simple. And since we don’t wholesale our trips, we can offer prices that are among the most competitive in the business, bar none. You can certainly pay a whole lot more for your fishing vacation, but you won’t get a better trip! Trust us on that! Contact us for a list of references, talk to some of our former clients or ask other folks in the fly fishing business, and you’ll find that our reputation is untouchable. We are the best because, more than anything, we love to do this, have the highest personal standards and have been in business longer than most everyone else!

We are an Alaska-based enterprise, in business since 1983. We have always strived to provide the highest quality wilderness sports fishing adventures, here and abroad, at the most competitive prices. In addition to developing an outstanding Alaska program, we were among the first American tour operators to pioneer joint ventures in Russia during the late 1980s, concentrating our efforts in the Far East provinces most accessible by direct flights from Alaska.

Goo Vogt’s Siberian taimen program based out of Khabarovsk in the 1990s was very successful, garnering five IGFA World Records, including the largest fish ever taken on rod and reel. The Kamchatka program, begun in the early 1990s, featured float trips on the finest rivers in the southern and central province, along with volcano treks, visits to hot springs and trips to rural villages for cultural interaction. With our considerable involvement and passion, we have tirelessly promoted tourism and business and cultural exchanges between our two neighboring countries.
