About Your Trip

Quepos offshore fishing is what fishing in Costa Rica is all about! The offshore World Championship has been held out of Quepos since 2012 for a reason. Catch and release records are consistently broken year after year which means theirs always a chance your next adventure could yield the same result! So if you’re into big game fish, give it a shot with Captain Tyler aboard his 46' Guthrie! With the fertile currents of the Pacific Ocean passing right along the coast of Costa Rica, you'll be in the thick of what many would say is the best sail fishing grounds anywhere in the world!

Offshore fishing is great year-round in Costa Rica. In December – May period, the migration of Pacific sails is concentrated in the central pacific region of Costa Rica and offers anglers the chance at double digit release days pretty much any time in that frame window. During this time of year, Queos also gets a lot of Mahi Mahi, Blue Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna and the occasional Wahoo. For Marlin specifically, Quepos area gets a really good bite during the months of May – October. This time is when the meat fish (Mahi, Wahoo & Tuna) show up in good numbers as well.

No matter what species you choose to target, Captain Tyler and his team are always excited to accomodate your goals. Their 46' Guthrie Sportfishing yacht can truly do it all. She is the last wood hull boat Guthrie ever built and is one of the best fish raising boats anywhere. She is powered by a Detroit 8V92 and cruises at 20 knots.

She comes with an air conditioned cabin, full head, kitchen, two staterooms and is perfect fish-raising platform for the central pacific of Costa Rica. This boat was originally brought to Costa Rica by the Legendary Fly Fisherman Harry Gray and designed specifically for fishing the fertile Pacific waters right off Costa Rica. It features full Garmin and Raymarine electronics, Rupp Outriggers, Tuna Tubes, Live Well and pull double dredges.

Captain Tyler and his crew will outfit you with the best equipment: Shimano TLD 30 and 50 class conventional along with Penn 50 and 80 class conventional and lighter tackle spinning equipment as well.
