Whether you're looking to hit the backcountry of the Gulf of Mexico, chase fish in Key West Harbor, or rip it out to the reef on the Atlantic side, a half day trip with Captain Spencer offers seemingly endless opportunities. And Captain Spencer is just the man to customize the perfect trip for you!

There are tons of different species to target on these half day trips all depending on how you'd like to spend the day. Some of them are; cobia, permit, bonefish, mutton snapper, mangrove snapper, red grouper, black grouper, gag grouper, sharks, barracudas, and jacks but there are many more as well. Captain Spencer is all about customizing your experience, so if there is something specific you'd like to target, just let him know in the days leading up to the trip and he can make it happen!

Captain Spencers 25' Pathfinder is extremely versatile in this regard shallow enough to maneuver the backcountry and local grass flats, and sturdy enough to handle the light chop of the open ocean. The vessel also has a full tower which optimizes your fishing opportunities by sighting fish and bait easier. She can accommodate 6 guests, however, Captain Spencer prefers to fish with 4 or less.

Captain Spencer can also make accommodations to pick you up from many places around Key West. If you are staying somewhere with water access let us know and Captain Spencer will try to accommodate picking you up from your location.

Captain Spencer is a Key West native, a 5th Generation Conch, he was born and raised in Key West, FL. He has spent over 30 years fishing and boating the waters surrounding his hometown. Captain Spencer's great-grandfather, Captain Ted Canova, was the original Captain of his charter operation in Key West.

Captain Spencer attended Key West High School before going off to college at Florida State University. Upon graduating he returned back to Key West to continue his life on the water.

Captain Spencer now owns and operates his own charter business out of the Lower Florida Keys. The vessel is a 25 Pathfinder Hybrid bay boat with a full tower and is powered by a Yamaha 300. This vessel provides you and Captain Spencer with the ability to fish a variety of species in both the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean sides of Key West.

Captain Spencer likes to focus on live bait fishing but also fish both dead baits and artificial baits. His fishing techniques follow the fish and weather patterns to provide you with the best chance of landing your trophy catch. Whether it is targeting Tarpon during their migration through Key West Harbor or bottom fishing for Snapper or Grouper he can do it all.

Captain Spencer will go over your expectations and provide you with seasoned input to make sure you can capitalize on your time on the water down in Key West!

Spencer was awesome. Especially great with our child. Showed him proper technique and our boy caught 12 fish! Fished in a couple different places and the fish were biting a lot in each spot. Will totally book Spencer again if we make it back to Key West.

Spencer picked us up as scheduled. Boat was extremely clean and well prepared. We were fishing for tarpon and had a wonderful time. Hooked into multiple fish and had one giant. Spencer was amazing overall and would absolutely do it again. Couldn’t recommend him more.
