About Your Trip

Although Lake Erie isn't the biggest or the deepest of the Great Lakes, it certainly has some of the best fishing, with strong native stocks of Walleye, Smallmouth Bass, Perch, and more! On this trip with Captain Charles, you'll focus on catching up the Yellow Perch, a top-notch eating fish that are a blast to catch! Perch weight in at just a couple of pounds, but they're surprisingly agile and will put up a good fight on light tackle. In addition, they often hang out in groups, so getting multiple fish on at one time isn't uncommon.

You'll be chasing these pint-sized sportfish with classic light tackle fishing techniques. Perch will hit both bait and lures, so you can switch things up depending on the conditions. Captain Charles will make sure you're set up with the best tackle for the job!

You'll get out there aboard his 27' Sportcraft sportfisher, a beautiful boat with a big deck for fishing. She runs a 300-HP engine so you'll be out there in the blink of an eye, and has plenty of amenities to keep you comfortable. You'll be provided with everything you need for a blue-ribbon fishing trip; all you need to bring is proper clothing for the weather, your Ohio fishing licenses, and a good attitude!

Captain Charles writes: "Even as a boy in Michigan, I fished every opportunity I had, whether from my dad’s boat or in my uncle’s farm pond. With decades of experience fishing the Great Lakes, I can say there is no better place for Walleye and Perch. I have my USCG Captains License and the Ohio Guide License. I take both your enjoyment and safety seriously, and for that reason I choose to limit my trips to 1 to 4 people for Walleye charters, and up to 6 people for Perch. This gives me the best opportunity to not just get everyone directly involved but to also educate my clients on the secrets of fishing the Erie Islands and the methodologies to how we fish. It also means there is room for everyone to be safe, especially in those periods where the fish are hitting and the lines are popping! I particularly enjoy working for families and the opportunity to get someone’s son or daughter as excited about fishing as I am. My commitment to safety also means that I have a zero-tolerance drug policy, and while my guests are welcome to bring beer, extreme inebriation on the water is inherently unsafe and will likely mean the end of your trip.

I am committed to my clients having a successful trip; even on Lake Erie the fish can be fickle. I will keep working until I find the right spot, the right depths, the right lures that are the magic combination that day."
