About Your Trip

Join Scott for an unforgettable backcountry fishing adventure through the endless flats and mangrove-lined shorelines of Charlotte Harbor and the surrounding waters. This trip puts you right into the heart of Southwest Florida’s pristine inshore ecosystem, where shallow grass flats, winding mangrove creeks, and hidden backwater channels create some of the most productive and scenic fishing grounds in the region.

Depending on the time of year and current conditions, you will be targeting a classic
lineup of Southwest Florida inshore favorites including Snook, Redfish, and Speckled Trout. These species thrive in the diverse habitats of the harbor and offer a perfect mix of steady action and hard-fighting encounters. Snook are known for their explosive strikes and strong runs toward structure, Redfish provide powerful, determined fights in shallow water, and Trout deliver consistent bites over grass flats and sandy potholes.

One of the defining features of this backcountry fishery is its variety. The waters of Charlotte Harbor are incredibly dynamic, and species availability can shift with tides, seasons, water temperature, and bait movement. Because of this, every trip offers something a little different, keeping anglers engaged and on their toes throughout the day. In addition to the primary targets, you may also encounter a range of other inshore species depending on conditions, adding to the excitement and unpredictability of each outing.

Scott uses his local knowledge and experience to adjust the trip in real time, focusing on the areas and techniques that are producing best on any given day. Whether working shallow flats, probing mangrove shorelines, or drifting productive backwater cuts, the goal is always to stay on active fish and maximize your opportunities on the water.

A variety of light tackle techniques may be used throughout the trip depending on conditions and target species. These methods are ideal for the technical nature of backcountry fishing, where stealth, accuracy, and presentation often make the difference between a missed opportunity and a quality catch. The shallow, clear waters also provide exciting visual opportunities, especially when sight fishing to Redfish or watching Snook ambush bait near the shoreline.

This trip is well suited for anglers of all experience levels. Beginners will appreciate the hands-on guidance and straightforward approach, while more experienced anglers will enjoy the challenge and nuance of fishing highly pressured, natural environments. The focus is always on having an enjoyable, productive day tailored to your group’s goals.

When booking a backcountry charter with Scott, communication is key. Simply ask what is biting most actively at the time of your trip, and the approach can be adjusted accordingly to ensure the best possible experience on the water.

Join Scott for a Charlotte Harbor backcountry fishing trip where pristine waters, diverse species, and ever-changing conditions come together to create a true Southwest Florida inshore adventure.

We had 4 of us and two kids one was 5 Scott was so patient with the kids and very interactive with everyone explaining each fish we caught- we caught 10 different species of fish that we boated but also had a shark and tarpon on. I would definitely recommend Scott to anyone who is looking for a great fishing captain.
