About Your Trip

You will be sight fishing from the bow of a flats skiff in the Mosquito Lagoon or Indian River Lagoon. Despite the scary name, mosquitoes are not a problem on the water. With clear skies and clean water, you can see fish within casting distance. In addition, we look for tails, fins, and wakes from single fish, groups or schools. Year round targets include redfish (red drum), spotted seatrout, and black drum. Seasonal catches may include tarpon and snook. Your captain has nearly 20 years of guiding experience specializing in sight fishing these waters.

This fishing can be done by people of all skill levels but is best suited for adults and those with prior casting experience. For trips with kids and less experienced anglers, look for my "Daytona Beach/New Smyrna Easy Catching Trip".

You may request spinning tackle or fly fishing. Capt. Chris is a certified fly casting instructor with the FFI for those wanting to improve their cast. Top quality tackle is provided with your trip. Anglers bring their own food and drink.

Sight fishing trips are usually started at first light unless otherwise dictated by weather or other factors discussed in advance.

I fish out of a well maintained 16ft Hewes flats skiff. This boat is extremely stable and rides through rough water easily while still able to get onto the shallow flats to stalk redfish. The boat is equipped with a push pole, Minn Kota Terrova trolling motor, a gps, and power pole. It is powered by a 90hp Yamaha motor. I have been the sole owner of this vessel. It is able to quetly fish the flats but can also cross rough water bays on windy days and get to areas many lightweight skiffs cannot go.

Cancel for free up to 10 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 10 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.
