This trip is designed to put you on two of the most exciting freshwater targets in the region, peacock bass and the infamous bullseye snakehead, often referred to as the “Urban Jungle Dragon.”

Fishing takes place throughout the canals, lakes, and backwater systems of South Florida, where warm water, structure, and steady bait presence create ideal conditions for both species. Peacock bass are known for their aggressive strikes and hard fights on light tackle, often hitting around canal edges, seawalls, and current breaks where they ambush bait. Snakehead add an extra layer of excitement, typically holding near vegetation, shallow cover, and shaded pockets where they can be targeted with precise presentations.

This is a fast-paced, action-focused trip where anglers can expect frequent opportunities and constant movement between productive areas. Justin uses local knowledge of the urban water systems to locate active fish and adjust techniques based on conditions, ensuring time is spent where the bite is strongest.

Techniques often include light tackle spinning setups and fly fishing when conditions allow, giving anglers multiple ways to target both peacock bass and snakehead. The variety of water types and species keeps every stop interesting, with the potential for steady action throughout the day.

Captain Justin is a United States Coast Guard licensed Captain, he moved to the Fort Lauderdale area from Northwest Indiana in 2017 leaving behind a successful steelhead fishing guide operation for over a decade. He cut his teeth targeting freshwater apex predators in skinny waters where you have to deal with endless trees and undergrowth. His skill with casting flies through, around or under vegetation adapted well to the urban fishing jungle of South Florida. Justin has spent countless hours on the water. Some guys have the knack for knowing where fish will stage to ambush their next meal and how to trigger bites. He is one of those guys.

You will see Justin drive right up to spots, and he will put you on fish in minutes. The ability to find the right stretches of water to target is a huge advantage. When you come to fish with him, you'll also get to learn how to fish for peacock bass in Florida from land or boat. From fishing canals and small lakes. Justin will demonstrate his casting techniques, and he will work with you. From the flies he prefers, his gear, rods, reels, lines, and leaders, he will share with you what works. Knowing a little more is all the edge you need to get on fish, and enjoy your adventure.

All rods, reels, and tackle are included, but we also recommend bringing sunglasses, sunscreen, weather-appropriate clothing, and any gear of your own you want to use on the trip.

You'll need to buy a fishing license before getting out there. Find out more about licenses here.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

The deposit for this trip is non-refundable except for weather-related cancellations. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.

Hunted some #greeniguana in lovely Markham Park. Captain Justin deserves his moniker „Captain Hawk Eyes“ because he can spot those things from like a mile away. He is an awesome and patient guide that will help you find all iguanas in every nook and cranny.

Green iguana are an invasive species to Florida. They destroy the landscape and man made structure alike and they prey on native wildlife like the burrowing owl. Florida wildlife is slowly adapting. Gators are starting to recognise them as prey, the hawks go after little iguanas and the couple dozen Florida Panthers and bobcats that exist are raiding their nests. Evenso these resilient reptiles are so good at surviving and thriving that some of them manage to grow up to 7 feet long.

That’s why it needs hunters guided by awesome guys like him to take care of business.
