Join Captain Ray for a laid-back and rewarding inshore trip along the southern New England coast. With departures available from a variety of local harbors, these trips are designed to make the most of the region’s productive inshore waters, whether you're a seasoned angler or just getting started.

Captain Ray offers light tackle and fly fishing opportunities for striped bass, bluefish, false albacore, and bonito. These species are known for their spirited fights, especially on lighter gear, and fishing for them in shallow water often brings exciting visual elements to the experience. When conditions line up, you might see fish chasing bait right at the surface—an angler’s favorite kind of chaos.

In addition to chasing pelagics, Captain Ray runs bottom fishing trips for tasty species like black sea bass, fluke, scup, and cod. These trips offer a mix of steady action and the chance to take home a few fresh fillets. Whether you're working jigs over structure or drifting bait along the bottom, Captain Ray will guide you through the techniques that work best on the day.

You’ll be fishing aboard a custom-outfitted 23’ Formula center console designed specifically for the diverse waters of New England. With a custom engine bracket carrying twin outboards, this vessel is well-suited for both inshore fishing and nearshore runs when conditions allow. It’s comfortable for up to six anglers and equipped with all the necessary gear to make the most of your time on the water.

Your trip includes rods, reels, tackle, lures, live bait, and fly fishing equipment if you'd like to give that a try. Captain Ray also covers your fishing license and will clean and fillet your catch at the end of the day.

Trips are available from April through November, with both half-day and full-day options to fit your schedule. Whether you're looking for a hands-on experience with light tackle or a relaxing day targeting bottom fish, Captain Ray’s trips offer a great way to enjoy what the New England coast has to offer.

I started as a guide in my early 20’s after being a first mate for several seasons.

I provide a fun experience, teaching you about the fishery as well as how to become a better angler. My goals is for you to leave a better and more informed angler, while having a great time doing it.
