About Your Trip

If you're looking to dive deeper into the heart of Rhode Island’s saltwater fishing scene, Captain Mike’s extended inshore and nearshore trips are the ultimate way to do it. These 6 or 8-hour adventures give you more time to explore the diverse waters surrounding Newport and beyond—from sheltered bays and rivers to offshore wrecks and nearshore reefs. Whether you’re chasing stripers at sunrise, battling Black Seabass over deep structure, or drifting for Bonito in open water, these trips promise rod-bending action and coastal beauty in equal measure.

Captain Mike’s 3/4-day trip runs for 6 hours, taking you through the bay systems, along the beachfront, and into nearshore territory where you'll have time to dial in the bite and work a few different areas. With a full arsenal of techniques at your disposal—light tackle casting, bottom fishing, jigging, trolling, spinning, and drift fishing—you’ll be ready for anything that bites. This trip is perfect for anglers who want more than a quick taste of the action without committing to a full day on the water.

For those looking to go all-in, the full day 8-hour inshore/nearshore trip opens up even more opportunity. Spend the full day working your way through bay channels, sandy beaches, rocky nearshore structure, and even offshore spots as conditions allow. It’s a marathon of variety, from deep sea jigging for Tautog and Seabass, to trolling for Bluefish, or hunting Atlantic Mackerel, Bonito, and Skipjack. With time on your side, you can fish the tides, chase different species throughout the day, and settle into a rhythm that only a full day on the water can provide.

Your base for these adventures is the same dependable 22' Seaswirl walkaround that offers plenty of space for up to four anglers, with all the comfort and equipment needed for serious fishing. Captain Mike provides top-tier rods, reels, and bait, along with onboard bottled water and two ice boxes for snacks and drinks. You're welcome to bring food, additional beverages (beer is fine in moderation), and of course, any layers or gear to stay comfortable from sun-up to sundown.

With all licenses included, and Captain Mike’s local know-how guiding every cast, all you have to do is show up ready to fish. Just remember to pack essentials like non-spray sunblock, sunglasses, and a light jacket for cooler mornings offshore. Whether you choose six hours or the full twelve, these trips are about chasing the best bite and making the most of every moment on the water.

Let Captain Mike put you on fish, share a few tips, and guide you through an epic day in one of the Northeast’s most underrated fisheries. It’s more than just a fishing trip—it’s a deep dive into everything Rhode Island’s waters have to offer.
