About Your Trip

Head offshore with Captain Gerry for a 6- to 8-hour fishing trip to the iconic Catalina Island, one of Southern California’s most productive and scenic fisheries. These trips give you the chance to chase a wide variety of species in deeper waters, with the added bonus of stunning coastal views along the way.

On this extended trip, you’ll be targeting Calico Bass, Bonito, Barracuda, Yellowtail, and Rockfish (when in season), all of which thrive around Catalina’s rocky shorelines and underwater structure. With multiple fishing techniques in play — including deep sea fishing, bottom fishing, light tackle, and heavy tackle — Captain Gerry will tailor the approach to suit the conditions and your personal preference.

Your trip takes place aboard Captain Gerry’s fast and well-equipped boat, designed to get you to the island quickly and comfortably so you can spend more time fishing and less time running. The vessel features Lowrance GPS and Fishfinder, a live bait well (bait available for an additional $35), wireless trolling motor, and an ice box to keep your drinks and catch cool.

Captain Gerry outfits his trips with the latest Daiwa rods and reels, whether you prefer spinning, casting, or conventional setups. All gear and lures are provided, so you can focus on fishing without having to worry about the extras. While bait and filleting services are not included in the trip price, the crew ensures a smooth, enjoyable day from start to finish.

Anyone 16 and older will need a valid California fishing license. One- or two-day licenses are ideal for these trips and do not require an Ocean Enhancement Stamp. Licenses can be picked up at local sporting goods stores and must be shown to Captain Gerry before boarding.

Bring along any snacks or meals you’d like in a soft cooler, and the captain will provide ice and bottled water to keep you hydrated. Whether you're looking to hook into hard-fighting Yellowtail or load up on Rockfish for a fresh dinner, a Catalina Island trip with Captain Gerry offers a solid day of fishing in one of California’s top offshore destinations.

All gear is included, but we also recommend bringing sunglasses, sunscreen, weather-appropriate clothing, and any gear of your own you want to use on the trip.

You'll need to buy a fishing license before getting out there. Find out more about licenses here.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

Cancel for free up to 14 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 14 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.

In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.

Once you've paid your deposit at checkout, we'll send you a QR Code boarding pass. Just show your guide your boarding pass on the day of the trip, they'll scan it, the remaining balance will transfer automatically, and you'll be all set to get out there. Just make sure you bring a cash tip for the guide!

In the event of inclement weather, our guides will check the conditions and make the final call on whether its safe to go on the trip. If they decide the trip needs to be postponed, we'll work closely with you to reschedule or provide a credit for the full deposit, which can be applied to any of our trips in the US and beyond.

Each trip's price is determined by the guide and reflects all associated costs. A significant factor in pricing is often the type of boat and the corresponding fuel expenses. Additional costs may include leases, marina or slip fees, and the expenses involved in providing and maintaining the necessary gear for your trip.
