About Your Trip

This is a “ Catch and Release” fishing trip at South Padre Island, Texas. Artificial soft plastics and other lures will be used for catching redfish and speckled trout with the emphasis on releasing fish back into our local ecosystem to promote a healthier environment for the future. This trip can be flexible with take off times either early morning or middle of the day. If a client would like to try some sight fishing at some redfish we can take off mid morning or if clients would like to possibly chase pods of tailing fish the afternoons would be better depending on weather and seasonal factors. This trip is geared for anglers with some experience fishing or individual anglers that are willing to learn some shallow water fishing techniques. This should be a fun fishing adventure with a different experience that will include more fast paced fishing and releasing fish back into the waters around the Lower Laguna Madre. Get ready to set the hook on this one.

How did you get started guiding?
I just fell into the love or addiction of fishing the Lower Laguna Madre. Friends kept telling me to get my guide license. So, I put in the hours on the water and went for it. The guiding just took off, and now I’ve got 21years into it.
What makes you different from other guides?
Years of experience and a strong desire to put my clients on fish. I have many clients that have been fishing with me for years. Memories that keep on coming and growing.

All gear is included, but we also recommend bringing polarized sunglasses, sunscreen, weather-appropriate clothing, and any gear of your own you want to use on the trip.
You'll need to buy a fishing license before getting out there. Find out more about licenses here.
We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).
Cancel for free up to 14 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 14 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.
In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.

My nephew and I went out with Captain Mike on Jan 27th, 2024. Captain Mike was very approachable and personable with his introduction. He set up some rigs before we left the pier which only took a few minutes. His boat is a very comfortable and nicely setup. When we arrived at the fishing location Captain Mike was very informative on what to do and how to do it. He is very patient and informative. We set up a 5-hour trip but had our limits of Red Drum and Speckled Trout in only 3 hours of fishing time. He knew exactly where to go and what to do. When we arrived back at the pier there was a very kind gentleman waiting to clean our fish for us. He will clean them any you want them. I give Captain Mike a solid 5-star review and I will return to fish with him again in the future. THANK YOU, CAPTAIN MIKE, for a fantastic time.

During our trip, Captain Mike consistently put us on fish in multiple situations despite what I would consider fairly difficult weather conditions. Mike knew the bay very well and did his best to put us on fish. I only had two issues with the trip. It might just be his personality, but I found him to be condescending when I asked questions. I also think he fishes too much. It was like we paid to take him fishing.
