About Your Trip

You don’t have to fly all the way to the Amazon to hook into hard-fighting Peacock Bass. Right here in the heart of the Caribbean, Puerto Rico offers world-class Peacock Bass fishing without the steep travel costs or jungle logistics. With a climate nearly identical to the Amazon Basin, these stocked fish have not only survived—they’ve thrived—and now offer one of the most exciting freshwater fishing opportunities anywhere in the region.

Join Captain Paco and
get an early start exploring the quiet, scenic lakes and rivers just outside of San Juan. These waters are absolutely teeming with Peacock Bass, an often-overlooked gem for visiting anglers. Introduced in the 1960s, the stocking effort has been a massive success—thanks to the warm, tropical temperatures that keep the fish biting year-round. It’s not unusual to catch 50 or more in a day, with some bruisers tipping the scales at 6 to 15 pounds!

You’ll be fishing from a top-of-the-line 18’ Key West flats boat, fully outfitted with everything you need for a productive and comfortable outing. Onboard amenities include GPS, a fishfinder, a live bait well, refrigerator, and an ice box to keep your drinks cold as the day heats up. The boat comfortably fits up to 3 anglers and offers ample casting space for targeting fish in tight backwater pockets or along deeper drop-offs.

Expect to use a variety of techniques—light tackle, bottom fishing, and even fly fishing—to entice explosive strikes from Peacock Bass. While they’re the main target, don’t be surprised if a Mangrove Snapper makes a guest appearance. These fish-rich lakes are as beautiful as they are productive.

Captain Paco provides all rods, reels, tackle, live bait, artificial lures, drinks, and fishing licenses, so you can focus on the fishing and the fun. Just bring sunscreen, your camera, and maybe a buddy or two ready to battle some bass.

This trip is ideal for everyone—from seasoned anglers chasing a trophy, to families looking for a safe, relaxed day on the water. Captain Paco especially loves helping kids get in on the action, teaching them how to land their first big bass in a patient and exciting environment.

So skip the long flights and unpredictable jungle trips—Puerto Rico has your Peacock Bass adventure waiting. With calm freshwater, explosive fishing, and the best backcountry action in the Caribbean, this is one experience you don’t want to miss. Let’s go fishing!
