About Your Trip

Our Orange Beach Inshore fishing charters offer the opportunity to catch awesome saltwater fish such as Black Snapper, Redfish, Speckled Trout, White Trout, Black Drum, Sheepshead, Flounder, Pompano, Spanish Mackerel, & more. We feature a light tackle approach since many of the fish we pursue inshore tend to be smaller species. But make no mistake all species are tough and there are also a few big ones inshore mixed in as well. While it does not happen every day, we regularly catch species that can easily weigh more than thirty pounds on inshore trips.

When inshore fishing in spring and early summer, we often focus our fishing efforts on Sheepshead Redfish, Pompano, Black Drum, and Sea Trout returning to the bays from their winter homes in tidal creeks and rivers. Our Summer season features the greatest variety of fish species that we have for the year and we frequently target Speckled and White Trout, Redfish, Black Drum, Spanish Mackerel, Black Snapper, Flounder, and more. In winter our species are somewhat limited but do include some of our favorites such as Speckled Trout, Sheepshead, Black Drum, and Redfish. We fish for them near the jetties at Perdido Pass as well as in small bays, canals, and up the tidal creeks and rivers where they reside until spring. We often fish styles such as casting live baits or jigs under popping floats, casting artificial scent baits to the bottom, drifting live and dead baits, casting artificial lures and plugs, and free lining live baits. We use these techniques to fish over open water oyster beds, along salt marsh grasses, near bridges and passes, on edges of sand bars and channels, near docks, along jetties, and more. Live shrimp is one of our favorite inshore bait choices but we will also use live Bull Minnows, Menhaden, and more.

Inshore fishing in summer, and fall are great for those who prefer catching to fishing. Numerous fish species and somewhat easy to execute fishing techniques help us turn inshore fishing charters into inshore catching charters. While not all of the fish we catch are what we are targeting, we can almost always count on a Catfish, Pigfish, or Skipjack to keep our lines tight as we wait for the Speckled Trout, Redfish, Flounder, Black Snapper, Pompano, White Trout, and Spanish Mackerel to bite. While our seasoned saltwater anglers often prefer not to catch bi-catch species, these additional species are good to help young and inexperienced anglers learn our ways as they bite early and often.

Rapid Fire Guide Q & A

What’s the biggest fish you’ve caught?
Yellow fin tuna
If you were cooking for all your friends what would you cook?
I have a ton of fish options, but my favorite is baked mangrove snapper with bell peppers and onions
What’s your favorite band?
I have an eclectic music taste and have a long list of favorites (which also means I'm good with whatever music people want to listen to on the boat)
What’s your favorite movie?
The Guardian ... great story of heroes on the water
What’s your favorite sports team?
Alabama Crimson Tide (though recently that has become harder)
What’s your drink of choice?
Water - I'm out on the water a lot so lots of hydration is a daily activity for me.
What was your last halloween costume?
Cowboy
What do you want for Christmas this year?
A new truck (though still waiting on Santa for that one)
How did you get started guiding?
I loved fishing and decided to make it my career. I've been blessed with 20+ years on the water - it's given me a ton of knowledge but the beauty of salt water fishing is that there is always something new to learn.
What makes you different from other guides?
Deep experience and overall personality. 20+ years in these waters has given me vast knowledge of all the fishing spot, species behaviors, and water considerations to maximize the experience on every charter. My personality is also very flexible, so I can go out with experienced anglers and target whatever they want, or can flip on the next charter with a boat of kids and patiently teach them all the basics of fishing. Every charter is different which keeps it interesting!
