About Your Trip

A great trip for kids or the 1st time fisherman! Get out and experience the magic of saltwater fishing! Our 2 hour "Matinee" is focused on showing kids (or adults) what saltwater fishing is all about. We head out on the water with the goal of making sure they have a great time, and we tailor the experience based on their skill level. We head to calm waters where we know some fish are, and then help everyone as much as they need to have a great time and get some fish on the line. This trip is usually full of smiles. We have a ton of 1st timers on this trip and everyone is welcome - any age and skill level.

We find that 2 hours is a good amount of time for our younger fisherman. It gives them time to experience a calm boat ride, and also gives us time to hit a couple of fishing spots. It also balances the experience with not being out too long and works out well with kids' typical attention spans. We target fish that are both easy and fun to catch - a variety of bay/inshore species that could be white trout, catfish, or a variety of smaller species. That being said, it's still good inshore water so we also see some big catches as well including redfish, black drum, and flounder. The beauty of saltwater fishing is you never know what you will catch!

Our boat is a great platform for this type of trip. Our newer year 25' Sea Hunt has plenty of seating to be comfortable, but also has a wide deck up front so there is plenty of space for kids to space out and have room to practice casting as they feel comfortable taking on more themselves. This a great trip if you love to see smiles on kids faces as they almost always have a great time out on the water, seeing the views, and catching some fish!

Rapid Fire Guide Q & A

What’s the biggest fish you’ve caught?
Yellow fin tuna
If you were cooking for all your friends what would you cook?
I have a ton of fish options, but my favorite is baked mangrove snapper with bell peppers and onions
What’s your favorite band?
I have an eclectic music taste and have a long list of favorites (which also means I'm good with whatever music people want to listen to on the boat)
What’s your favorite movie?
The Guardian ... great story of heroes on the water
What’s your favorite sports team?
Alabama Crimson Tide (though recently that has become harder)
What’s your drink of choice?
Water - I'm out on the water a lot so lots of hydration is a daily activity for me.
What was your last halloween costume?
Cowboy
What do you want for Christmas this year?
A new truck (though still waiting on Santa for that one)
How did you get started guiding?
I loved fishing and decided to make it my career. I've been blessed with 20+ years on the water - it's given me a ton of knowledge but the beauty of salt water fishing is that there is always something new to learn.
What makes you different from other guides?
Deep experience and overall personality. 20+ years in these waters has given me vast knowledge of all the fishing spot, species behaviors, and water considerations to maximize the experience on every charter. My personality is also very flexible, so I can go out with experienced anglers and target whatever they want, or can flip on the next charter with a boat of kids and patiently teach them all the basics of fishing. Every charter is different which keeps it interesting!
