About Your Trip

The waters off Fernandina Beach stretch from productive nearshore structure all the way out to deep Gulf Stream territory, and Captain James fishes all of it. This listing covers multiple trip lengths, each designed to match a different level of ambition and put your group on the species that are most active at that range and time of year.

The 4-hour option runs 4 to 15 miles offshore, covering nearshore ledges and reef structure where
a solid variety of species hold throughout the year. The 6 and 8-hour trips push out to 30 miles, opening up deeper bottom structure and more trolling opportunities in open water. For the serious offshore angler, the 10 and 12-hour trips run 30 to 75 miles out into hardcore offshore territory where the target list expands significantly and the fish tend to be bigger. Captain James adjusts tactics between trolling and bottom fishing based on what is producing at that range and season, so every trip is built around maximizing the bite rather than following a fixed script.

Your group fishes from a 31-foot center console rigged for serious offshore work. Outriggers and downriggers give Captain James the ability to run an effective trolling spread across multiple depths, while the livewell keeps bait fresh and fish healthy. A dedicated fish box and cooler handle your catch throughout the day, keeping everything in good shape from the first fish to the last.

All gear is provided. Captain James and his crew put in the effort to give every group the best possible chance at a productive day regardless of which trip length you choose.

Book your trip with Captain James and pick the range that matches your appetite for offshore fishing.
