About Your Trip

Climb aboard with Captain Jim for a classic inshore fishing adventure along the Atlantic coast—where local knowledge, seasonal variety, and nonstop action come together for an unforgettable day on the water. Whether you're an experienced angler or just getting your feet wet, this trip is all about connecting with the rhythms of the coast and hauling in some of the East Coast’s most sought-after species.

Depending on the time of year, you'll have the opportunity
to target a wide range of fish that thrive in these nearshore waters. From hard-hitting Bluefish in the warmer months (May through October) to legendary Striped Bass that stretch from spring through late fall (April to November), there’s always something biting. Summer Flounder, known locally as Fluke, show up from June to October, offering exciting bottom action. For those braving the cooler weather, Winter Flounder can be found in April to June and again from September to November, while Black Sea Bass and Blackfish (Tautog) dominate the spring and late fall bite. You might even hook into a rare but welcome Weakfish during May and June.

Captain Jim supplies everything you need to fish in comfort and confidence. Top-quality rods, reels, and lures are all included, and there’s plenty of ice and cooler space on board to keep your catch fresh. At the end of your trip, all fish—belonging to the charter—will be expertly cleaned to your liking, so you can take home the freshest fillets ready for the grill or the frying pan.

To make the most of your trip, be sure to bring a few essentials: sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat, and layers like a sweatshirt along with both shorts and pants so you're ready for any weather. Footwear should be something you don’t mind getting wet—think boots or deck shoes. You’re welcome to pack your favorite food and drinks for the ride, and if you like music while you fish, bring along your iPod or MP3 player to plug into the onboard stereo system.

Keep in mind that tipping the mate is customary and greatly appreciated—a 15 to 20 percent gratuity based on the charter price is standard for great service.

From the tidal flats to the rocky jetties, Captain Jim will guide you through productive local waters with skill and enthusiasm. If you’re looking to make memories, reel in impressive catches, and enjoy a true East Coast fishing experience, this inshore trip is the perfect choice.
