A full 8-hour day with Douglas on South Padre Island covers two of the best things the Texas coast has to offer, and this Cast & Blast trip packages them back to back into one of the most well-rounded outdoor experiences available anywhere in the region.

The day starts on the water at 7:00 AM, fishing the productive inshore and nearshore waters around South Padre Island through mid-morning. Douglas works the local fishery with a flexible game plan built around what is biting, covering the flats, channels, and structure that hold fish throughout the season. The 22-foot center console is rigged for serious fishing, with a fishfinder and GPS to stay on productive water, a wireless trolling motor for quiet and precise positioning, a livewell to keep bait healthy, a casting platform for elevated presentations, and an ice box to keep your catch in good shape through the morning. After a midday break to rest and regroup, the afternoon shifts to the field.

Douglas puts your group into prime sunflower field locations where dove fly in numbers and the shooting stays active throughout the evening hours. Wild dogs work the field alongside the hunt, adding an authentic wing-shooting element that makes the afternoon feel like a complete and well-organized hunt rather than a casual outing. For those more experienced anglers, Captain Douglas is happy to share tips and tricks he's picked up of his 40+ years fishing the Laguna Madre.

Captain Douglas runs a brand new 22’ Dargle center console. This spacious boat comes powered by a single 200 HP Suzuki engine and can cruise at up to 32 knots. The boat can host up to 5 anglers to fish in comfort and style. Outfitted with a GPS, a fishfinder, a wireless trolling motor, and a livewell, you're all set for a great day on the water.

You'll be fishing Captain Douglas' favorite inshore, flats, backcountry, and nearshore spots while trolling, jigging, and throwing light tackle for Tarpon, Sheepshead, Flounder, Black Drum, Mangrove Snapper, Speckled Trout, Snook, Spanish Mackerel, Redfish, and Kingfish.

All trips include rods, tackle, reels, bait, lures, and complimentary fish cleaning. Don't forget a valid Texas saltwater fishing license for each angler, bring something to eat and drink, and come ready to fish!

All gear is included, but I also recommend bringing sunglasses, sunscreen, weather-appropriate clothing, and any gear of your own you want to use on the trip.
You'll need to buy a fishing license before getting out there. Find out more about licenses here.
We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).
Cancel for free up to 14 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 14 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.
In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.
