About Your Trip

These trips are primarily for blue catfish, flathead catfish and channel cats The cat trips generally start in mid March and run thru mid October. In the fall and winter, we primarily target hybrid stripers from mid October thru February. All trips are on a 22 foot dual console Sea Hunt Deep V boat, with windshield and bimini top and electric trolling motor. In the summer we generally start at first light and go about 5 hours, but we can fish shorter or longer as needed. I only do one trip per day, so there is no hustling to get folks off the boat so I can pickup another group.

I provide all bait and tackle. You just bring your license, snacks/lunch and drinks and appropriate clothing for the weather.

Most of the time we are slow trolling with multiple lines and planer boards to create a wide bait spread. Occasionally, we will spot lock the boat and downline baits to the fish. It just depends on what we are seeing on the sonar. The boat seats three fairly easily. Some times of the year we can fish more, but it's hard to keep from falling over each other when it gets busy.

Most of the trips involve cut or live bait on Santee Cooper rigs. Hybrid fishing often uses Alabama and tandem rigs fished at a much higher speed, or jigging and casting as we find moving schools of fish.

I've been guiding for 7 years now, and the best thing for me is taking someone out who has never
caught a catfish and then seeing the look on their face when the cat starts peeling drag!

Additional Amenities
The boat has a large livewell. While it does not have a dedicated bathroom, I have 5 gallon bucket with a toilet seat, and there is a reasonably large console that someone could climb into in a pinch to use the bucket. Boys do what boys do overboard. Many of the places we fish on the lake have a boat ramp with bathroom facilities within 10-15 minutes drive time, so that is often the choice for the women on the boat. The big thing is to just speak up and not be uncomfortable!
