Captain Dave’s inshore trips in the calm waters of Assawoman Bay are perfect for anglers of all ages and skill levels. Whether you're planning a quick outing or want to spend more time working the tides, these back bay adventures deliver fun, action, and local knowledge every step of the way.

3-Hour Trip: Offered three times daily—at 7:00 AM, 10:15 AM, and 2:00 PM—this quick trip is ideal for families, first-timers, or anyone wanting to enjoy a stress-free few hours on the water. Depending on the time of year, you’ll be drifting for Flounder, casting for Bluefish, or live-lining for Rockfish (Striped Bass), all without ever leaving the protected bay. You’ll fish, relax, and soak in the sunshine with cold drinks stored in the onboard Yeti cooler, and thanks to top-quality gear and electronics, you’ll be in the best spots fast.

5-Hour Trip: If you’re after more fishing time or simply want to explore more of what Assawoman Bay has to offer, the 5-hour trip gives you just that. Departing at 7:00 AM or 2:00 PM, this trip is perfect for more serious anglers or families who want to maximize their time on the water. You’ll target the same species—Flounder, Bluefish, or Rockfish—while working with the tide and adjusting techniques as conditions change. Bring your snacks or breakfast and enjoy a laid-back, engaging day of fishing with Captain Dave and First Mate Frank.

You’ll be fishing aboard a 26' custom MayCraft center console, designed for comfort and performance. Recently renovated, the boat features brand-new upholstery, canvas, and electronics, and is powered by a 2024 Suzuki 350hp outboard for a smooth and reliable ride. Onboard you’ll find dual Garmin GPS units, a LiveScope fishfinder, Garmin radar, and a Garmin Kraken trolling motor with Spot Lock. There’s also a live bait well, outriggers, and an ice-filled Yeti cooler for your food and drinks.

Everything you need for a great day is provided. Captain Dave supplies all rods, reels, and tackle—featuring quality Penn gear—along with any live bait you’ll need (or you’ll have the chance to catch it during the trip, which is part of the fun). Lures and terminal tackle are included, and your fishing license is covered under the boat’s charter license. First Mate Frank will be onboard to assist with everything from setting up lines to helping you follow regulations. After the trip, catch cleaning and filleting services are available dockside, courtesy of the OC Fishing Center staff.

Make sure to pack sunscreen, a hat, drinks (alcohol is allowed in moderation—just no hard liquor or glass bottles), snacks or meals depending on your trip length, and sunglasses to keep you comfortable out on the water. One more thing—leave the bananas at home. It might sound silly, but it’s one fishing superstition we’re not willing to test!

All gear is included, but we also recommend bringing sunglasses, sunscreen, weather-appropriate clothing, and anything else you might want on the trip.
You're all set! You don't need to buy a license for this trip.
We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).
Cancel for free up to 7 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 7 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.
In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.
