A few things make it special also would be small flies, (Tiny actually), light tippets and super smart fish, one of the best places to hone nymphing skills that will serve you well anywhere in the world! I learned my techniques there, along with the other waters mentioned, and developed certain presentations for certain runs, like different shots in Golf for different lies and holes( For you Golfers)....
I hope all is well and you are enjoying the Season! Growing up in the Valley and it's summer heat, I find the older I get the more I enjoy the colder months, you can always dress for the cold but when it's super hot it's just that...
Putah Creek is somewhere I have a long history with, one of the original "Home Waters" I have been guiding since 1984 along with the Stanislaus, Calaveras and Mokelumne rivers. When asked about my favorite places to fish or guide, I always share the fact that Putah is perhaps the most exciting still because at certain times of the year, you never know what you may hook into! I can't tell you how many clients have caught or hooked fish that would be considered the fish of a lifetime....
The Delta is still hanging in there with water temps. and clarity totally fine, for those of you you may have trouble wading, a day on the Delta is always fun with the Waterfowl migration in full swing along with daily sightings of Osprey, Otters and the occasional Mink....

I am now focusing on the lower Kings River below Pine Flat and above it. A tail water fishery below the dam and a wild freestone river above it with some really nice fishing. Winter is a great time to fish the lower. Looking forward to taking people out and enjoying some great flyfishing!

Hi David, right now we are fishing for our late fall king salmon on the Sacramento River, this isn't a limit out fishery but a great chance at high quality fish. We're getting 1-3 fish per day anywhere from 10-35 lbs

Fishing continues to be hot for Darado, Bluefin and Yellowfin Tuna in full Day and overnight range. It's coming in waves as the warm water pockets move up from the storms off Cabo. When the wind lays down for a day or more we should have some really solid counts still. We had 5 Dorado and 3 Yellowfin Tuna on the last trip and Limits of Dorado previously this week.

Rockfish limits are the norm, with lingcod fishing consistent as well, some days limits and most days at least a few. Dungeness crab starts November 5 amd we are expecting an excellent crab season as well
