The backcountry basins are still very good with plenty of action and species to capture on artificial lures. Captain Justin has been hiding from the high winds on the leeward side of the island doing some high action bottom fishing. The local wrecks and channels have been producing plenty of great tasting fish including mangrove snapper , yellowtail snapper, mutton snapper ,yellow jacks and a few groupers. We had some fantastic weather this week with Light winds and calm seas. The trout fishing has been good in the basins on artificial lures. With a mix bag of pompano , jacks , lady fish and blacktip sharks. The bottom fishing continues to be great with plenty of action catching grouper, snappers, lots of jacks, barracuda and a few Cobia are starting to pop up. Inshore fishing has remained consistent with the higher than normal wind conditions we have experienced over the past few weeks. I have been focusing on the backcountry channels and flats targeting Mangrove Snapper, Mackerel, Speckled Trout and Goliath Grouper. Snapper fishing has been very good producing catches in the 2-4lb range on a consistent basis with some larger fish in the mix. While targeting these Snapper I have also been dropping a big bait down for Goliath Grouper that provides excitement for all aboard.
