This time of year with the colder weather we have been targeting Speckled sea trout and pompano in the basin's. My last few trip we had a great bite with the trout including the photo of a 21" trout. A few pompano have been caught as well. Hopefully that bite will improve after this most recent cold front, also catching some big barracuda up on the flats which is typical for cooler winter days.

Tunas showed back up when the blue water came back in. There have been some kings around and a sailfish here and there. Had some beautiful dolphin and grouper at the end of last month.

Yellow Jack fishing has been very consistent over the past few weeks. Live bait such as pinfish or pilchards has been producing best, but anglers are also catching them on bucktail jigs and topwater lures. These hard-fighting jacks put up a great battle and are excellent table fare.
The inshore snapper bite is red hot right now. Using live or cut bait, anglers are catching plenty of legal snapper in the shallow waters.
A few cobia have started to show up, but the large numbers we’ve seen in recent years haven’t arrived just yet.

The Fishing has been amazing lately! With nonstop Cobia action in the gulf and fishing behind the shrimp boats for blackfin tuna and Bonitas as well as Fishing the Rex for mangrove, snappers, mutton, snappers and lane snappers. Lately the cobia’s have been good size. With the largest so far being 54 pounds.

Kicking off 2026 with some amazing weather. The couple cold fronts we've had didn't keep us bundled up for long and definitely has not kept us from catching fish. Our cold month species, Sheepshead are moving in while at the same time snook, trout and redfish are holding strong as if it was already spring. We are still netting white bait and the snook are loving it! The fishing is great here in Pine Island Florida and we are making awesome memories on the water.

Zak was an excellent captain and guide! He kept us safe and comfortable for the ride and took us to the perfect sandbar location. We’ll be booking him again next girls trip to Key West!
Dayron was a fabulous guide. It began with great communication and ended with a bunch of snappers ready for the frying pan. Dayron was accommodating, knowledgable and a lot of un to fish with. I would highly recommend the next time you want to go fishing in the Captiva Island area.
Cot Lou was professional, prompt with communication. We had a great day catching fish, he was great with 16 year old grandson and cared about our comfort throughout the 4 hour trip. I would highly recommend him, have already referred him to friends.
