Last few trips have been mostly catch and release trips. Did not take a lot of pictures. Most days we are finding a good bite using artificial lures from the boat. Some days it takes time for the bite to materialize. Recent weather patterns are indicating an early spring. Water temperature have already reached mid 70 degrees. The shad spawn has already begun. So we will be using smaller baits to get our bites for the next 30days or so. Popping cork and shrimp will also become an effective method for catching fish.

The backwater is holding lots of redfish, some trout and some large sheepsheads. We’re using live shrimp fishing 4 to 6 feet deep along rocks. Spring Break is right around the corner, it’s time to get your kids outdoors!

Well to keep with the current trend, we had a strong cold front arrive, bringing strong North winds, and dipping water temperatures into the upper 40’s. By Saturday, the wind had switched back out of the East and as the day progressed, moved out of the South at 10 to 15mph. The morning air temperature started out at 41 degrees and was in the low 60’s around lunch time. The water was heavily stained in East Bay, and the wind did help keep the mosquito activity down a little less than what we have been encountering lately, but still need to spray yourself down with my recommended choice of Marshland Inspect Repellent, made here in the great state of Texas. Fished several areas, on an outgoing tide, where catching has been good of late, but found very few bites till late morning. As the day developed, the water began to heat up, bites increased, but the fish were very spread out. Most bites came on a ¼ oz jig head and plum/chartreuse tails, fished very slowly, as the fish were positioned in the deeper channels and bites were very light.
If the current trend continues, about 2 to 3 days after the front passes, the fishing normally peaks, so hit me up if you want to get on the water and do some fishing.

It was a windy day but Jonathan took us right to a honey-hole out of the wind. The rods and reels were ready to go and easy to use. We caught fish all day long and came home with a nice haul which Jonathan cleaned and bagged for us. He even directed us to a local restaurant that cooked up a few of our fresh filets for dinner. It was a great day from beginning to end!

Bobby was a great captain we booked him for two days and he produced so many fish and such a great time. He knew the water as well and was a great assistant to my son in landing a huge 35 pound drum. I also got one, but I’m not talking about it.

We had great communication and helpful tips with Captain Lance's team from the moment we booked. He promised our crew of six LandLubbers that we’d be catching a bunch of fish on St. Patrick’s Day … and that’s exactly what we did! Our take on the day: some sheepshead, flounder, a bonnet-head shark, and the prize catch: a 35-inch redfish! Even Captain Lance was proud of that one – “about the biggest fish you’re ever going to catch with light tackle!” Then to finish things off, he expertly cleaned our fish … and offered some great tips on how to prepare them. We’ve been eating delicious fish dinners ever since! Thanks, Captain Lance, for memories that will last a lifetime!

Ken was wonderful. It felt like fishing with an old fishing buddy. Very personable, very friendly and laid back experience. Ken knows the area, and the best spots well. He was also very conciencious. Our family felt perfectly safe the entire time.

Great trip with Capt. Michael! He put us on the fish: 7 speckled trout and 5 black drum in our 4-hour trip. Despite varying weather—we had clouds, sunshine, heavy fog and even a bit of rain—we went home with a nice catch thanks to his knowledge and skill. Highly recommend!!
