Fishing has been great lately. We've been using live shrimp and popping corks and soft plastics for the win. Trout have been good on open water structure and redfish on shallow reefs.

Fishing has been good here in Matagorda. The heavy rains, last week, slowed things to a halt but we're back on fish now.
Tailing reds in the clear waters of West Matagorda Bay have been worth chasing. Crab patterns have proven the most effective.

Fished the west Galveston area. Bottom of the tide at dawn. Water off color, wind 13 to 15 mph. Fished some artificial reef on the north side with live shrimp and popping corks. Picked up a few large gafftop and some sandtrout. Moved down couple hundred feet. Caught some specs and a upper slot red. Got a few more specs in chocolate bay. Some black drum and sheepshead in cold pass when the tide was ripping in. Slow bite but put together a nice box of fish

    Capt. Fern showed us a great time! He was happy to share his knowledge of the Matagorda fishery and how to get on fish. Conditions weren't great so he offered to extend our trip until my boys limited out on trout. We will be returning to Matagorda this winter due to hospitality, great customer service and overall experience we had with Captain Fern!

    Captain Terry is a very good Boat captain. He kept all of our bait on our hooks. He took care of all of the fish. It was just a great experience. We probably caught 150 fish in six hours and by the end of the tour, I thought my arms were gonna fall off. We will definitely use him again in the future.
