Captain Mike's South Padre Fishing Report 3/20/26. The bay fishing has remained solid. Catching some heavy speckled trout on soft plastics in deeper water. Redfish are active once the wind kicks up. Catching reds on soft plastics and fresh cut mullet out on the grass flats. The windier conditions have led to some memorable fishing trips with larger plastics. Fish are moving around a lot and a productive area may not be hot on consecutive days. Find some bait activity and the gamefish will be nearby. Lake Austin is at a normal level with clear water and about 4–6 feet of visibility. Water temperatures are around 65°, and bass are in all phases of the spawn. Fish are holding shallow across the lake, and it’s common to run into small groups that can produce quick flurries of action before things slow down again.

Not a bad week, it was windy but that's about all. Morning and afternoon bites are decent. Seeing lots of fish activity in west Galveston bay. Sharks and stingrays are back so be mindful of them. Fish are eating on live or dead shrimp and smaller paddle tails and jerk shad lures.
