The redfish and flounder bite have been consistent. We’re still targeting them in creek holes and creek mouths on mudminnows or live shrimp with a 1/4oz jighead. Don’t shy away from using a popping cork with at least a 18" leader and 1/0 circle hook. The trout bite has been good at times when water temps go down. Look for temps below 70 with good moving water for the best results using the same bait for flounder and reds. A bycatch of sheepshead and black drum will round out a successful day and just for fun throw in some ladyfish and blues and you’ll put a smile on some faces. Merry Christmas Capt. Mike

Fishing report from Dalton G. in Golden Meadow, Louisiana

Launching out of Golden Meadow, Louisiana. Back to back charters. Both groups agreed to go target some redfish, so we loaded up the boat and embarked on our journey. Started fishing dead shrimp 26" under a four horseman cork. Working oyster beds and old camps. Both groups made quick work, bringing in redfish after redfish. On both trips, we had our state allowed limits at 10 am. We would then work more old camps along Grand Bayou Blue catching sheepshead and reds. Once the bite stops at one location, we would switch from popping cork to free line. Free line would give us an opportunity to get lower in the water column where more fish would be. Most of our redfish were 16"-18" (perfect eating size). Both groups left happy and excited for their next marsh adventure!

Fish catching is really good! We're fishing areas that are protected from the winds. Drifting over scattered shell and sand/mud mix. Water depth 3-5 feet adjacent to deeper water. As long as it stays dry above the watershed of Galveston bay, the bite will continue to be good. We're using live shrimp under popping corks but at times you can catch them on lures.

Black drum and redfishing has been very good down in Baffin Bay. These cold fronts have them hungry! The red snapper bite has also been fantastic when the wind allows us outside of the jetties!

Fishing report from Craig K. in Jupiter, Florida

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Holiday season is full swing, the south Florida weather has felt like summer the past week. The water ways have been busy, be careful and vigilant of other boaters that are careless. The snook fishing has been great around docks and seawalls due to the warm water temperatures sitting at 82°. Live bait, DOA C.A.L. 3" shad tails have the been the baits to get the strike. Moving water and clean water, key to success. There still dumping freshwater out in the ICW so fishing near inlets best bet. Tarpon fishing is still excellent in the Jupiter, Palm Beach areas. We are catching tarpon near mangrove shorelines, channel edges and near docks. Bigger tarpon are schooling on drop offs taking live baits and DOA Terror Eyz. Low light hours tarpon fishing around docks offer great action with the fly rod and live baits. When not targeting snook and tarpon, jacks, drum mackerel and many other species are being caught jigging DOA C.A.L. curl tail and using live shrimp. Big schools of jacks and blues offer great action with top water as well. Well that is the fishing report for the past week, hope you all enjoyed. Remember you can’t catch them from the couch, so get out there and get hooked up. Tight Lines!

Not many trips this time of year because of deer season and the holidays but I have been doing pretty good the last few trips out. Tons of drum, along with redfish, trout, and even some really nice sheepshead showing up.

Fishing down in Shell Beach Louisiana this fall/winter has been absolutely phenomenal! The redfish and speckled trout have hit their winter patterns right on time this year. We’ve been throwing a lot of artificial baits and some live shrimp under a cork. Finding the perfect tidelines with bait in them have been fairly easy the last few weeks. I have been stepping away from the crowds of community holes and venturing out to find different fish that haven’t been so pressured. We have been working some really stout speckled trout deep in the ponds, and redfish have been tucked up tight on the banks. This cool weather has them eating up and looks to continue on this pattern for a good while.

Redfish have been on fire lately. Best bite has been when the north wind blows the water out of the marsh and the fish come off the flats. Fishing should continue to remain hot with the weather conditions remaining the same for the foreseeable future.
