With the high waters that we've had for the last week Friday and a lot of baked fish from offshore. All the big predators are following the bait fish into the bay big oversize redfish, big trout you got a key on you have the key on it's easy. Over 30 years experience as a guide I make all the other guides look bad

fall inshore fishing is well underway with an amazing mixed back bite. We are still seeing a lot of redfish, but the speckled trout and black drum have made a strong showing as well. Additionally the old drum bite is still well underway for those that are seeing a trophy catch.

Fishing report from First L. in New Orleans, Louisiana

As the days get cooler, the fishing gets hotter down here in South Louisiana. The bull reds and jacks are schooling by the tens and even hundreds some days. I’ve been heading out to the edge of the Gulf to intercept these packs of maniacs. Doubling and tripling up on 30lb redfish on fly is a common occurrence and will continue till about thanksgiving. Nothing gets your blood pumping like rolling up to a school of huge bulls boiling the water and breaching like dolphins as they decimate a pod of migrating shrimp - Cast a fly in there and hold onto your butt, you’re going for a ride.

Flounder fishing has been up and down with some good fish being caught on some days and them being hard to find on others. The mullet run has started to die off so the preferred Flounder bait, finger mullet, have become a challenge to get Fall back has been speckled trout with some really nice fish caught last weekend. Artificial, particularly soft plastics, have been producing uup against the grass lines on high tides. Sheepshead ought to start showing soon. Bull red season has arrived with bruisers in the 30 to 40 inch class being caught. Been a weird year for tarpon. Primary bait, pogies, have been spotty so beach fishing has been difficult. Some hsve been caught around the Mayport jetties and even up the St.Johns River in downtown Jacksonville. Offshore has been tough due to the winds. But those lucky enough to have snapper lottery permits have - surprise!- excellent catches. Just had Hurricane Helene pass to our west so hopefully things will settle down quickly and we see what's chewing!
