Fishing being good to me, trying avoid the rain and wind last week. Found some fish when the wind slowed down. It's been an early morning bite.

Fishing continues to slowly get better and better. The recent rains cooled the water temp down nearly 10 degrees and the fish seemed to have come alive. Bouncing back and forth from reds to trout is still common to try to find out what is eating good that day. Lots of fish staging at the jetties waiting to follow in the schools of finger mullet so thinking within the next few weeks red fishing is going to be better than it's been in a while

Well the trout fishing has been on fire with limits in the mornings being caught fairly early. Red fish has been a little spotty but the black drum have been good in the afternoons in South Bay. We've also been hitting flounder on the sand bars on shrimp and some artificial. Fishing is going to get better and better as we transition into the fall months from September through November.

Inshore fishing in sarasota continues to remain very good. We are bringing home limits of mangrove snapper that are finishing out their spawn, the snapper will continue to bite for the next few weeks as we transition into our fall pattern. Snook are starting to make their way back into the bay and are transitioning getting ready to head back into the creeks and rivers. We are catching decent size snook at the higher stages of the tide around mangroves. Shots at juvenile Tarpon are being had early in the morning as they roll on the surface. Spotted sea trout are starting to make good showings on the edges of deeper grass flats, some smaller schools of Spanish mackerel and bluefish are also around the deeper grass flats. We are catching plenty of live white bait in the morning and that has proven to be key for a successful trip.

The winds are not the problem, it is the salinity in the water that is causing it to be difficult to find fish, salinity is 3 x's what it should be due to the lack of fresh water.

The redfish bite in the back bays of Southwest Florida is starting to pick up and will only get better through the end of October. Plenty of breeder snook can be found in the passes and along the beaches. Bait has been plentiful on the grass flats which is a good place to work artificial lures for trout. Tarpon can still be found but time is running out on the 2022 season.

Fishing for flounder has been good in some spots with live shrimp and jigging a curly tail soft plastic around pilings near the channel drop offs. Reds and Trout are good drifting the sandy water on windy days using a popping cork with live shrimp. On days with calm winds reds can be caught in green water with top waters and soft plastics.

Fishing report from Frank B. in Stone Harbor, New Jersey

The fishing has been pretty off out front on the inshore reefs. We continue to have upwelling thanks to the constant southerly winds. The water temperature is fluctuating constantly from the upper 50s to the low 70s. The fish can't get acclimated and just turn off. So, we have been targeting the smaller fluke and little sea bass in the back bays. The beaches are providing more consistent action with kingfish, spot, and a variety of other species. There are occasionally larger sharks and rays in the mix. The back bays at night are loaded with peanut bunker and spearing. Small blues are constantly harassing them. There are some stripers around here and there. The bite is definitely not what is should be though. Things would bust wide open if the water would just get stable.

Fishing report from Andrew C. in Rockport, Texas

Rockport has been steady with good trout holding in the deeper water in late morning. Red fish are still hit or miss. Still having best results on wade trips. Lower Laguana: nice trout being caught on croaker and artificial up and down the king ranch shore line. Best bite is early morning. Once the winds pick up, bite is dying off quickly.

The fishing has been good. Catching lots of nice trout on finger mullet in the bays. Early morning top water bite has been excellent for big redfish and trout. Flounder gigging trips have also had good success.

Fishing report from Mick L. in Corpus Christi, Texas Book a trip with Captain Mick here.

Fishing is heating up here on our beautiful Laguna Madre! Corpus Christi Texas's bay system hosts one of the biggest bull red migrations. Beginning now and moving into the late fall and early winter, schools are starting to move on the flats that border deeper water on their movement out to the Gulf of Mexico. Nice sized trout are being caught on grass lines that border deep drop offs and we are catching good numbers of redfish and trout on the flats with plastic lures and spoons. Fishing should only get better as we head into the fall months!
