Summer time is trout time. Lots of speckled trout to be caught. We are catching a good number in the 20 inch range pretty consistently with a lot of pan friers.

Past couple of weeks have definitely meant focusing on a sunrise bite. With the hot temperatures fish have been dropping off into deeper water very soon after sunrise.

The Southwest winds is hurting the fishing. It's keep the tide to low. We still managed to catch a few trout and redfish using live shrimp or croakers fishing on the bottom near deep water. The Galveston jetties still got a lot of small sharks on cut bait. The best place to fish is Ali the Houston Ship Channel. The water temperature is 87 degrees. The heat index is around 110 degrees. So be very careful drink a lot of water. Fish early or late. Maybe try night fishing. Captain Mike

Trout is what's for dinner. These boys put a whopping on a nice limit and drank just as manny beers.
Got to fish a fun tournament with some of my good clients. Thankfully the weather cooperated and we were able to sweep the board winning biggest trout, flounder and redfish. The fishing is still hot!
Galveston bay has been producing some extraordinary fishing recently. Early limits of big trout along with some bonus flounder and redfish. As a guide it is my job to understand what makes these fish do what they do. A combination of wind, tide movement and water salinity can play a huge part in where the majority of fish will be in the bay. It all comes together to make a successful fishing trip.
Big trout and even bigger smiles. The bite was early and on fire. We were able to haul in a four person limit of trout in less than an hour. My group had a blast on the water and took home some delicious fish.

If the interest isn't offshore the nearshore fishing for red snappers, bonita and sharks has been off the chain! Inshore things are starting to get scrappy with the warming water. But keeping a rod bent on oversized redfish, trout, jacks, ladyfish and mangrove snapper has proved somewhat easy. But not every spot has been a good one.
