Everything You Need to Know About Sarasota, Florida Fishing

What can I expect to catch in Sarasota?

Inshore and offshore fishing out of Sarasota can both be productive. One of the most common ways to fish inshore is to drift the large grass flats of Sarasota Bay. The 4-10 foot waters here will hold all sorts of inshore species, including speckled trout, bluefish, spanish mackerel, ladyfish, pompano, jacks, and other species.

If you want to catch something bigger - head to Big Sarasota Pass or New Pass, the two inlets of the area. The water movement and changing tides draw all sorts of bait action and the fish are sure to follow.

You can also head out further to bottom fish for grouper, snapper, triggerfish, hogfish, and more. Or target sharks and pelagics, the choice is yours!
