*Lodging and Meals Included* Optionally add on one of Cash's crane, hog, or dove listings to maximize your stay! We typically hunt the North West Texas area of the Rolling Plains flyway. What makes our duck hunting so special is that there are no Federal Wild Life Refugees located in our very own Central flyway from Canada to Texas. We feel this make a positive impact on the number of ducks available each season in our managed hunting areas. One of the biggest differences with our guided duck hunts is the annual Mallard Duck Migration we see happen each season over the entire North West Texas region. The Mallard Migration occurs around the middle of November and generally lasts until the first substantial freezing weather event. When this migration occurs, there are huge numbers of Mallard Ducks on nearly every spot of water that our managed properties hold. Limit duck hunting happens very quickly when these conditions occur and the fun factor is high. The majority of our duck hunts occur over managed stock tanks/ponds. We manage these locations to make sure they are not over hunted or pressured. This is why some of our duck hunts occur anywhere over a seven county area of North West Texas. Our guide network is always scouting for bird concentrations all season long. We maintain year long conservation programs on all our managed hunting properties. This is done to ensure your group a great outdoor experience. Several of our hunting guides are full time ranchers and farmers that work the very land we hunt on. Who is better to know where the game is, than a guy running farm equipment all year long and managing the land, conservation and livestock. While the area’s we hunt are a solid distance from all major cities. We feel the remoteness and rural feel of this North West Texas location, combined with its agricultural focus, make this a great area to build life long memories of good times in the field hunting Ducks. Lodging- Meals Schedule, for a typical weekend two day guided hunting package we provide one meal (Dinner) upon arrival Friday Evening and three meals Saturday (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) and one meal Sunday (Breakfast) for a total of five meals per person. We hunt Saturday & Sunday Morning with guest departure after the hunt is completed by Sunday early afternoon. Generally until limits are achieved or at 12 Noon on Sunday. (This will vary based off of the duration of your stay, but you will be well fed!) THE LODGE Sleeps up to 12 The lodge, purchased in 2010, has been fully refurbished and out fitted for modern living since the building's humble beginnings as a Methodist Church. The expansive main room features game tables, flat screen TV and full kitchen, perfect for private parties & receptions. The ground floor features laundry and two full bathrooms for men & women, including rain shower heads and multiple stalls. Downstairs, you'll find five individual bedrooms with bunk beds, twin beds and queen beds, depending on the room. THE COOKHOUSE Sleeps up to 6 Located just across the street from the Lodge, the Cookhouse is a smaller building that boasts a gourmet kitchen including two ovens, two refrigerators and a standing freezer. The main room is lined with tables to accommodate the hunters and cowboys who gather to dine here three times a day. There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms located in the cookhouse, making it perfect for a small hunting party. A comfortable living room area is completed with a flat screen TV for your viewing pleasure. The main bedroom features a message chair and private bathroom. Read More

What is fishing in Bronte all about?

Fishing in Bronte is a popular activity, thanks to its well-stocked waters and diverse fishing opportunities. Located in West Texas, Bronte offers access to a number of lakes and reservoirs that are home to various fish species, including Largemouth Bass, Crappie, and Catfish. These bodies of water are known for their rich fish populations, making them attractive spots for both casual anglers and more serious fishermen. Whether you're casting from the shore or using a boat, Bronte provides a range of fishing experiences to suit different preferences.

One of the main attractions for anglers in Bronte is Lake Bronte, which is renowned for its ample fishing opportunities. The lake’s structure, including submerged vegetation and rocky areas, provides ideal habitats for Largemouth Bass, which are a primary target for many local fishermen. Crappie can also be found in good numbers, particularly around underwater structures and brush piles. The lake's accessibility and well-maintained facilities make it a convenient and enjoyable spot for a day on the water.

In addition to Lake Bronte, the area’s smaller ponds and local creeks offer additional fishing experiences. These smaller bodies of water often provide a more peaceful and less crowded environment compared to the larger lake. Anglers can find species like Bluegill and Catfish in these ponds and creeks, adding variety to their fishing adventures. Overall, Bronte’s mix of large and small fishing spots, combined with its diverse fish species, makes it a rewarding destination for fishing enthusiasts.

What are the most popular months to go fishing in Bronte?

Fishing seasons in Bronte offer a range of opportunities throughout the year, each with its own distinct advantages. Spring is a particularly good time for anglers, as the warming waters encourage increased activity among fish. During this season, Largemouth Bass move into shallower waters to spawn, making them more accessible to anglers. Spring is also a prime time for Crappie fishing, as these fish gather around spawning grounds and become more active. The pleasant weather and active fish make spring a popular season for fishing in Bronte.

Summer fishing in Bronte can be both rewarding and challenging due to the higher temperatures. As the weather heats up, fish such as Largemouth Bass may retreat to deeper, cooler areas of the lake. Early mornings and late evenings are the best times to fish during the summer, as fish are more active during these cooler parts of the day. Catfish remain active throughout the summer and can be targeted using baits like chicken liver or worms. Despite the heat, summer offers good fishing opportunities for those willing to adapt their techniques.

Fall brings a change in fishing patterns, with cooler temperatures prompting fish to feed more aggressively in preparation for winter. This is an excellent time for targeting Largemouth Bass, as they become more active and search for food. Crappie fishing can also be productive as these fish start to school together more tightly. The fall weather is often more comfortable for fishing, and the increased feeding activity of fish makes it a rewarding season for anglers. Winter fishing in Bronte can be quieter, but with the right techniques and persistence, anglers can still find success, particularly by targeting Catfish in deeper waters.

What types of fishing are popular in Bronte?

Fishing in Bronte offers a variety of techniques suited to different types of fish and angling preferences. One popular method is bass fishing, particularly targeting Largemouth Bass in Lake Bronte. Anglers often use a range of lures such as plastic worms, crankbaits, and spinnerbaits. Casting near structures like submerged trees, rocks, and weed beds can be effective, as these areas provide cover for bass. Varying your retrieval speed and technique can help mimic the movement of prey and increase your chances of a successful catch.

Crappie fishing in Bronte requires a slightly different approach, focusing on using smaller jigs or live minnows. Crappie are often found in schools, so once you locate a group, techniques like vertical jigging or "spider rigging," where multiple rods are used, can be particularly effective. Fishing around submerged structures or brush piles is key, especially during the spring spawning season when Crappie move into shallower waters. This technique can yield good results and provide a fun and engaging fishing experience.

Catfish fishing in Bronte involves using heavier gear and different bait options. Popular baits include chicken liver, cut bait, or worms. Catfish are typically found in deeper waters, so techniques such as bottom fishing or drift fishing are commonly used. During the warmer months, Catfish remain active, but fishing early in the morning or late in the evening can yield the best results. Adapting your approach based on the type of fish you're targeting and the season can enhance your fishing experience in Bronte.

What species are popular for fishing in Bronte?

When fishing in Bronte, anglers have the opportunity to target a variety of species that provide exciting challenges and enjoyable experiences. Largemouth Bass are one of the primary species sought after in Lake Bronte. Known for their aggressive strikes and strong fights, Largemouth Bass are often found near submerged structures, such as trees and rocks. Fishing for these bass is particularly productive during the spring and fall when they move into shallower waters to spawn or feed more actively.

Crappie is another popular species in Bronte, attracting anglers with their tasty fillets and schooling behavior. These fish are typically found around underwater structures like brush piles and submerged logs. During the spring, Crappie are more accessible as they move into shallower waters to spawn. Using small jigs or live minnows can be effective for catching Crappie, making it a rewarding experience for those who enjoy a bit of variety in their fishing.

Catfish are also abundant in Bronte, providing a different kind of fishing challenge. Both Channel Catfish and Blue Catfish can be found in the area’s lakes and reservoirs. These fish are known for their powerful pulls and are best targeted using baits such as chicken liver, cut bait, or worms. Catfish fishing is particularly productive during the warmer months, and fishing in deeper waters or during the cooler parts of the day can increase your chances of success. Each species in Bronte offers a unique experience, catering to different fishing preferences and techniques.

The less crowded nature of these ponds allows for a more relaxed fishing experience, making them an excellent choice for a leisurely day on the water.
