The waters off the coast of Freeport are rich in marine life, making it a popular spot for anglers. Common catches include Red Snapper, highly sought after for both its sporting qualities and its culinary value. The area is also known for Kingfish (King Mackerel), as well as Amberjack and various species of Shark. Depending on the time of year, anglers might also encounter Ling (Cobia), Mahi-Mahi, and other migratory species.

In addition to its fishing prospects, Freeport is appreciated for its convenient location and proximity to larger cities like Houston, making it accessible for both local and visiting anglers. The city itself, while small, offers basic amenities and services that cater to fishermen and tourists, including marinas, bait shops, and boat rentals.

Freeport's offshore fishing scene caters to a range of preferences and skill levels. Local fishing charters are available, with experienced captains who guide both novice and experienced anglers. Trip: Texas Coastal Adventure

Absolutely 5 stars!! If I could rate it 10 stars… I WOULD. Man did we get lucky, paid for the nearshore 8 hours and Captain Rodney was nice enough to have his offshore boat come pick us up 20 miles offshore to take us deep sea fishing because we wanted to catch red snappers. Captain Jeb and James were the best of the best in what they do as well! All around amazing trip! Definitely coming back to get that Amberjack trip!

Trip: A Nearshore Party In Paradise

Capt Rodney was wonderful. At the beginning of trip he asked what we were looking for during this fishing trip. We said we wanted some good fish. After getting our Red Snapper limit very quickly we had a lot of time left so he asked if we wanted to fill ice chest or try for some other game fish. We wanted to try for better game fish. We headed further out in search of fish. He spotted some floating grass so we trolled for some Mahi. Got one and missed one. We then headed out again. We then stopped and rigged up trying to find some tuna. On first pass we hooked up on a Wahoo for a good fight and catch. We continued to troll hooking up on more Wahoo and BkackFin Tuna. We finished up and headed back in due to storms in our area. All in all it was a great trip, not only because of the catches we made but because of Captain Rodney. He took the time to make this “our trip” and a trip we would remember. Captain Rodney was a wonderful Captain and Host. We will be back to see him. Thanks Captain Rodney.

    Trip: 10 Hour Offshore Expedition

We had several fish on our wish list that we wanted to try and catch and Captain Rodney did everything he could to make it happen. We took the 12hr trip and made several long runs going after black fin tuna and grouper but they just weren’t cooperating that day. Went for the Red Snapper and we killed them. They were huge and finished up the day with my son catching a 7ft 400lb bull shark and fighting it for over 1.5hrs before getting it in. Captain Rodney was very helpful in making sure he landed the fish even though they knew it was going to put him getting back late. It was a great experience for all of us and will most definitely be booking another trip with him in the future

We went on an 8-hr trip with Captain James. The communication was great, the process simple, and Captain James was helpful, friendly and an overall great Captain. We caught our max of sharks and a couple mackerel. Thanks for the great experience, Captain James – we’ll definitely be booking with you again in the future!
