Get ready for an epic 24-hour Offshore adventure with Captains JT and Danny chasing the big boys like Marlin, Tile Fish, Grouper, and Tuna! You will launch from Freeport around 10 am aboard their one-of-a-kind sport fisher for a luxury seafaring experience. At 38 feet long and almost 14 feet wide, the vessel offers lots of shaded space, two AC systems, satellite TV and music, and a legendary hull design. Needless to say, you will be much more comfortable than on most other boats. It’s equipped with state-of-the-art electronics, safety equipment including a satellite phone, epirb, and 8 man life raft. The beautiful vessel is powered by twin 420 horsepower Yanmar diesel engines that are meticulously maintained by Captain JT. After Captain JT has cranked up the engines, you'll motor offshore a ways to spend the day bottom fishing for Grouper, Golden tile, Amberjack and whatever else emerges from the blue depths! When the bite slows down toward the afternoon, Captains JT and Danny will haul in the lines, and motor out a little deeper to the 80-110 mile range. While you get some much-needed R&R, they will get the boat into position for the Tuna bite early the next morning. The Tuna bite is usually on a couple of hours before sunrise, so after a couple of hours of sleep, you'll wake up around 4 am to start jigging for Tuna! This is one of the only times slots when big tuna come up from the deep to feed and they are usually swimming back down to deeper water by the time the sun comes up. So you'll jig until that sun comes up then troll around in the rest of the morning before you motor back in! In terms of gear, we will come fully equipped with all the premium bottom fishing rods and reels, Penn international bent butt trolling rod and reels, and two heavy-duty electric reels for deep dropping down 350+ feet. The navigation system has more than 3000 waypoints saved over the years so they can pinpoint these feeding grounds easily as well! Read More

Welcome to Galveston Bay, one of the most popular fishing destinations in Texas! This is where the Gulf of Mexico meets the bays and estuaries that are home to some of the best game fish in the region. Galveston Bay is known for its incredible flounder, redfish, and speckled trout fishing, and one of the best ways to experience it is by wade fishing. Wade fishing is a unique and exciting way to catch fish, and it's especially popular in Galveston Bay. This type of fishing involves standing in the shallow water and casting your line, using a lure or bait to entice the fish to bite. The thrill of feeling the tug on your line and the satisfaction of reeling in a big catch is hard to beat! The best time to go wade fishing in Galveston Bay is during the fall and winter months, when the water is cooler and the fish are more active. Flounder, redfish, and speckled trout are all plentiful during this time of year, and you're sure to have an amazing time. Flounder are a popular catch in Galveston Bay, and they're known for their delicious, delicate meat. These flatfish are often found hiding in the sandy bottoms of the bay, and you can use a variety of lures and baits to entice them to bite. As you cast your line and wait for a bite, keep an eye out for any movement or ripples in the water. When a flounder bites, you'll feel a distinct tug on your line, and you'll need to reel it in quickly to avoid losing it. Redfish, also known as red drum, are another popular game fish in Galveston Bay. These powerful fish can grow up to 50 pounds, and they put up a fierce fight when you hook them. You can use a variety of lures and baits to catch redfish, including live shrimp, mullet, and crab. As you reel in your line, you'll feel the redfish tugging and pulling, trying to get away. But with some skill and patience, you'll be able to land a big one. Finally, there's speckled trout, which are perhaps the most sought-after game fish in Galveston Bay. These beautiful fish are known for their distinctive spots and their tasty, flaky meat. You can use a variety of lures and baits to catch speckled trout, including topwater lures, soft plastics, and live shrimp. As you cast your line, keep an eye out for any signs of trout activity, such as jumping or splashing in the water. Whether you're a seasoned angler or a beginner, a wade fishing trip in Galveston Bay is an experience you won't soon forget. With some patience, skill, and a bit of luck, you'll be able to catch some amazing flounder, redfish, and speckled trout, and enjoy some of the best fishing in Texas! Read More

Is booking a fishing guide worth the money?

Hiring a guide provides a number of benefits and many choose to book a fishing guide for a combination of experience, local knowledge, convenience, and cost-effectiveness.

Working with experienced fishing guides who know the best local spots and techniques can dramatically increase your odds of a great day. Having someone who is on the water every day and knows the area like the back of their hand is going to give you the best chances of success.

Booking a guide is also more cost effective, especially if you only get out a handful of times per year. When you consider all of the costs you would incur on your own such as the price of a boat, maintenance, insurance, gas, high-quality gear and tackle, repairs, and more, you’ll find that DIY is sometimes not worth the expense.

What is sailfish fishing in Galveston all about?

Sailfish are one of the most sought-after game fish species in Galveston, renowned for their incredible speed, acrobatic leaps, and stunning dorsal fin sail. These majestic predators are typically found in offshore waters, where they patrol the warm currents in search of prey. Sailfish are highly migratory, with seasonal movements influenced by factors such as water temperature and prey availability. In Galveston, sailfish can be encountered year-round, but their presence is more prevalent during certain times of the year when offshore fishing conditions are optimal.

Fishing for sailfish in Galveston requires specialized equipment and techniques to successfully hook and land these powerful fish. Anglers typically use heavy-duty trolling gear, such as large conventional reels and stout rods, to handle the fast runs and aerial displays of sailfish. Artificial lures, such as skirted trolling lures or rigged ballyhoo, are commonly used to attract sailfish when trolling offshore. Additionally, live bait such as pilchards or mullet can be effective in enticing strikes from sailfish.

Sailfish are known for their aggressive feeding behavior and willingness to strike a variety of baitfish, making them a challenging and rewarding target for anglers. When targeting sailfish in Galveston, anglers often troll along color changes, temperature breaks, or underwater structure where sailfish are likely to congregate. By covering a large area and varying trolling speeds and depths, anglers can increase their chances of encountering sailfish and enjoying memorable battles with these iconic game fish.

What are the most popular months to fish for sailfish in Galveston?

In Galveston, sailfish seasons are characterized by fluctuations in offshore water temperatures and prevailing currents, which influence the movements and abundance of these majestic game fish. Sailfish can be encountered in Galveston's waters throughout the year, but their presence is typically more pronounced during certain seasons when offshore conditions are optimal. The peak seasons for sailfish fishing in Galveston generally coincide with warmer months, such as late spring through early fall, when water temperatures rise and baitfish populations increase.

During the warmer months, sailfish are more abundant and active in Galveston's offshore waters, as they follow baitfish migrations and seek out warmer currents. Anglers targeting sailfish during these peak seasons often enjoy higher catch rates and more consistent action. However, sailfish can still be caught in Galveston's waters during the cooler months, albeit with reduced frequency. Anglers who venture offshore during the winter months may still encounter sailfish, particularly in areas where warmer currents and bait concentrations attract these apex predators.

While the warmer months are generally considered prime sailfish seasons in Galveston, other factors such as weather patterns and oceanographic conditions can also influence sailfish movements and behavior. Anglers should pay attention to factors such as water temperature, currents, and the presence of baitfish to increase their chances of encountering sailfish. By staying informed and adapting their strategies to prevailing conditions, anglers in Galveston can enjoy productive sailfish seasons and memorable encounters with these iconic game fish against the backdrop of the area's scenic offshore waters.

What techniques are popular for catching sailfish in Galveston?

Fishing for sailfish in Galveston requires specialized techniques and equipment to successfully target and land these powerful and fast-swimming predators. Trolling is one of the most popular and effective techniques for targeting sailfish in Galveston's offshore waters. Anglers typically troll with a spread of artificial lures, such as skirted trolling lures or rigged ballyhoo, at varying depths and distances behind the boat. By covering a large area and varying trolling speeds and patterns, anglers can increase their chances of enticing strikes from sailfish.

Another effective technique for targeting sailfish in Galveston is live bait fishing. Anglers often deploy live baitfish such as pilchards, mullet, or blue runners on kites or downriggers to present them at the surface or at specific depths where sailfish are likely to be feeding. This technique allows anglers to present live bait in a natural and enticing manner, increasing the likelihood of attracting sailfish. Additionally, live bait fishing can be particularly effective when targeting sailfish that are feeding on specific prey species or congregating around underwater structure.

When targeting sailfish in Galveston, anglers should also be prepared to use teasers and dredges to attract and entice strikes from these apex predators. Teasers are artificial lures or rigged baits deployed in the water to create commotion and mimic the appearance of a school of baitfish, attracting the attention of sailfish. Dredges are larger teasers consisting of multiple baitfish or artificial lures attached to a spreader bar or frame, which are towed behind the boat to create a larger and more enticing presentation. Captain Robert and his First Mate Jason were very knowledgeable and professional. They kept us entertained while going from from one fishing spot to another. Captain Robert’s experience and knowledge of the Gulf help him to put us on the fish that we wanted to catch.on a scale of 1-10 he gets a solid 10. We will fish with him again.

Caputn Cody and his deckhand Donny were great. He was also very flexible due to weather and we were able to reschedule it for the next day. It took us a while to find a good spot, but once we did, they were both very helpful. Will recommend using him and would be using him again if able in the future
