About Your Trip

Climb aboard with Captain Lance for an unforgettable day of offshore fishing in the legendary waters off Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. Whether you’re chasing your first big game catch or adding another trophy to the collection, Captain Lance’s goal is simple: to deliver a world-class experience filled with tight lines, stunning views, and memories that will stay with you forever.

You’ll be fishing aboard a 38’ Ocean sportfishing vessel, built for serious offshore action and comfort at
sea. Powered by twin 375 HP Caterpillar engines, this boat offers a smooth and powerful ride to the deep blue where Kona’s prized pelagic species roam. With top-tier features like outriggers, tuna tubes, a fighting chair, and a fully equipped flybridge, the boat is ready for anything that bites. Onboard amenities include a kitchen, private toilet, GPS, fishfinder, and plenty of shaded seating for you to relax between hook-ups. An experienced first mate is on hand throughout the trip to assist with gear, gaffs, and everything in between.

Fishing starts just minutes from the harbor, giving you immediate access to some of the most productive bluewater in the Pacific. Using heavy tackle and trolling techniques, you’ll be targeting a big-league lineup that includes Blue, Black, and Striped Marlin, Yellowfin and Bigeye Tuna, Shortbill Spearfish, Wahoo, and Mahi Mahi. These waters are home to some of the biggest pelagics in the world, and there’s always a shot at that fish-of-a-lifetime.

Choose from half-day, 3/4-day, or full-day options depending on how deep you want to go. The 4-hour half-day trip is perfect for travelers short on time but still looking to experience Kona’s legendary offshore fishery. The 6-hour 3/4-day option gives you the flexibility to reach farther grounds or stay on a hot bite when the action heats up. For those looking to go all in, the 8-hour full-day trip lets you explore Kona’s famous fishing grounds in depth, maximizing your chances at hooking up with one of the ocean’s apex predators.

All rods, reels, lures, and fishing licenses are included in the trip, along with catch cleaning and filleting at the dock. You’re welcome to keep your catch or release it back into the deep—it’s entirely up to you. Just bring your favorite snacks and drinks, and Captain Lance will take care of the rest.

Kids are welcome onboard, and Captain Lance takes pride in creating a fun, safe, and engaging environment for anglers of all ages. With a friendly crew, a well-outfitted boat, and some of the best fishing grounds on the planet just minutes from the dock, this is your chance to experience the magic of Kona offshore fishing at its finest.

Captain Lance is a graduate of Hunter College in New York City and has had his USCG 100 Ton License since 1978 and his 500 Ton Masters License since 1982. Lance has run boats up and down the west coast of North America and has worked on boats in Kona since 1984. Lance is a tireless worker and is able to handle all of the operating systems on board.

Lance has worked in the charter fishing industry since
he was 14, and his love of fishing, the ocean and his clients has always rewarded him. Lance believes it is his responsibility to show his clients a great day whether the fish are biting or not. With that said Lance is a very accomplished captain, catching two grander Blue Marlin (1058lb and 1075lb), 57 Mahi Mahi in a single day and has many tournament victories to his credit. A superb Ahi (yellowfin tuna) fisherman, Lance won first place in the Maui Jim Tournament Ahi Division three years in a row: 2009, 2010, and 2011.

Lance looks forward to spending the day with you, sharing his vast experiences on the water and focusing on catching you your fish of a lifetime.
