Fall on the Fraser River is something special. As the leaves change and the salmon runs peak, Captain Andrew’s Salmon & Sturgeon combo trips offer the ultimate British Columbia fishing experience. From September through November, you’ll have the opportunity to target Pacific Salmon in the morning and battle massive White Sturgeon in the afternoon—all in one action-packed day.

Depending on timing and river conditions, you may fish for any or all five species of Pacific Salmon—Chinook (King), Coho (Silver), Sockeye, Pink, and Chum. Using gear or fly rods, you’ll work productive stretches of the Fraser and its tributaries, drifting, casting, or back-bouncing through proven holding water. Whether you’re looking for the powerful runs of a Chinook or the acrobatics of a Coho, fall salmon fishing here is as dynamic as it gets.

Once you’ve had your fill of salmon action, the focus can shift to one of the river’s true giants—the prehistoric White Sturgeon. Anchored in prime lanes, you’ll fish heavy tackle and wait for that unmistakable take. When a sturgeon commits, get ready for powerful runs and, at times, spectacular jumps that show off why they’re considered one of the hardest-fighting freshwater fish in the world. All sturgeon are handled with care and released in accordance with strict conservation guidelines.

You’ll fish from a 22’ North River Commander jet boat, built specifically for navigating the Fraser’s big water. Powered by a 5.7L Kodiak engine with a Hamilton jet pump, the boat is fully covered and heated with a diesel system to keep you comfortable during crisp fall mornings. Outfitted with Humminbird Helix 12 electronics, suspension seating up front, and bench seating in the rear, it’s designed for both performance and comfort.

Captain Andrew supplies all rods, reels, tackle, bait, and lures needed for both salmon and sturgeon fishing. A cooler, ice, and bottled water are provided, and there’s even a BBQ option available—just ask ahead of time if you’d like to incorporate it into your day. These trips are family-friendly and suitable for a range of experience levels, making them a fantastic fall outing for anglers young and old.

The 6-hour option is a great choice for families or those wanting a well-rounded fall experience in a shorter timeframe. The 8-hour full day—his most popular fall trip—offers extended time on the water, allowing for dedicated sturgeon fishing along with salmon action throughout the Fraser River and its tributaries.

As always, anglers must purchase a valid British Columbia freshwater fishing license prior to the trip. Dressing in layers is recommended, as fall weather on the river can shift throughout the day.

My passion for the art of fishing ignited along the banks of the river. I vividly recall those youthful days when my friend and I, armed with bikes and a shared passion, pedaled our way to the Chilliwack river long before the luxury of a driver's license. Early before and after school were dedicated to casting lines into the water, chasing after coho and chinook salmon during the fall season. There's a distinct memory of being late for Thanksgiving dinner, an unintended consequence of our dedication to the pursuit of fish.

Now, a quarter-century later, that initial passion has blossomed into a diverse array of angling experiences. It has evolved from the seasonal focus on salmon fishing to engaging in bottom fishing for sturgeon, the delicate art of flyfishing for rainbow trout, and a year-round commitment to targeting a multitude of fish species that call our local lakes and rivers home.

I am committed to providing the most memorable experience on each trip, from epic battles to beautiful scenery and wildlife.

Everything is included, but we also recommend bringing sunglasses, sunscreen, weather-appropriate clothing, and anything else you might want on the trip.

You'll need to buy a fishing license before getting out there. Find out more about licenses here.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

Cancel for free up to 14 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 14 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.

In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.

In the event of inclement weather, our guides will check the conditions and make the final call on whether its safe to go on the trip. If they decide the trip needs to be postponed, we'll work closely with you to reschedule or provide a credit for the full deposit, which can be applied to any of our trips in the US and beyond.

Each trip's price is determined by the guide and reflects all associated costs. A significant factor in pricing is often the type of boat and the corresponding fuel expenses. Additional costs may include leases, marina or slip fees, and the expenses involved in providing and maintaining the necessary gear for your trip.
