About Your Trip

If battling one of the largest freshwater fish in North America is on your bucket list, Captain Andrew’s Fraser River sturgeon trips deliver a true West Coast adventure. Fishing out of Chilliwack, BC, you’ll explore the legendary Fraser River—home to prehistoric White Sturgeon that can grow to truly impressive sizes.

Trips depart from Island 22 Boat Launch, where Captain Andrew will meet you between 7:00–8:00am (exact timing confirmed prior to your trip). From there, you’ll
head out aboard a 22’ North River Commander jet boat, purpose-built for safely navigating the Fraser’s powerful currents and shifting channels.

This is hands-on, heavy tackle fishing. Using specialized rods, reels, and proven bait presentations, you’ll anchor in productive stretches and wait for that unmistakable sturgeon bite. When it happens, expect a serious fight—long runs, powerful headshakes, and teamwork to bring these giants alongside the boat. All sturgeon are carefully handled and released in accordance with British Columbia regulations, ensuring the conservation of this incredible fishery.

Captain Andrew provides everything you need to fish, including rods, reels, bait, and tackle. His covered and heated jet boat keeps you comfortable in changing weather, and onboard electronics help dial in productive water. Redington waders are available for shoreline photos, giving you the opportunity to safely step into the shallows for that unforgettable trophy shot. A cooler, ice, and bottled water are supplied, and there’s even a BBQ option available—just ask ahead of time.

These trips are family-friendly and suitable for anglers of many experience levels. The 4-hour trip is perfect for those on a tighter schedule, while longer 6-, 8-, and 10-hour options allow more time to explore, adjust to conditions, and potentially connect with larger fish. The 8-hour trip is the most popular option, while the 10-hour excursion is geared toward die-hard anglers looking to escape the crowds and explore less-pressured water where monster sturgeon seek refuge.

The boat itself is powered by a 5.7L Kodiak engine with a Hamilton 212 pump, designed specifically for river navigation. It features a custom cover with diesel heat, Humminbird Helix 12 electronics, suspension seating up front, bench seating in the rear, approved life jackets, first-aid equipment, VHF radio, and other safety essentials. Captain Andrew also carries sunscreen, bug spray, hand sanitizer, phone chargers, and spare sunglasses to keep you comfortable throughout the day.

Before your trip, each angler must purchase a valid British Columbia freshwater fishing license. These can be obtained online or at local tackle shops. Be sure to dress in layers, as river conditions can change quickly, and pack light to maximize comfort onboard. Bringing a lunch, snacks, and beverages is recommended.

Fishing the Fraser for White Sturgeon isn’t just another day on the water—it’s a chance to connect with a true river giant in one of the most iconic fisheries in the world.

About Your Guide

Andrew

Independent Guide
My passion for the art of fishing ignited along the banks of the river. I vividly recall those youthful days when my friend and I, armed with bikes and a shared passion, pedaled our way to the Chilliwack river long before the luxury of a driver's license. Early before and after school were dedicated to casting lines into the water, chasing after coho and chinook salmon during the fall season. There's a distinct memory of being late for Thanksgiving dinner, an unintended consequence of our dedication to the pursuit of fish.

Now, a quarter-century later, that initial passion has blossomed into a diverse array of angling experiences. It has evolved from the seasonal focus on salmon fishing to engaging in bottom fishing for sturgeon, the delicate art of flyfishing for rainbow trout, and a year-round commitment to targeting a multitude of fish species that call our local lakes and rivers home.

I am committed to providing the most memorable experience on each trip, from epic battles to beautiful scenery and wildlife.

I only use the finest equipment - to give you the best opportunity to land that fish of a lifetime.

Guiding you through safety features onboard, enlightening you on the subtleties of sturgeon fishing, and sharing expert techniques—all aimed at ensuring you depart with a richer understanding and enhanced satisfaction from your catch-and-release experience.

Whether you're a seasoned angler or a novice eager to learn, my personalized approach caters to all skill levels.

Don't just fish- Make lasting memories with a guide who shares your passion.
