About Your Trip

If you’re looking to take your fly fishing to the next level, this guided trip on Arkansas’ White River is built for anglers who already have a foundation and want to refine their approach on technical water.

Fishing below Bull Shoals Dam, the White River offers cold, consistent flows year-round and supports healthy populations of brown, rainbow, cutthroat, and brook trout. It’s a fishery known for both numbers and quality—but success here comes down to
precision, timing, and reading the water correctly.

The Experience

This is a hands-on, instruction-focused trip where the goal is improvement as much as it is catching fish. You’ll spend the day drifting productive stretches of river, working through different types of water, and adjusting based on conditions.

Your guide takes an active approach—watching your casting, helping dial in presentations, and making real-time adjustments with fly selection and technique. Whether it’s improving your drift, understanding feeding lanes, or recognizing subtle takes, the focus is on the details that separate average days from great ones.

Half day trips (4 hours) are a focused, high-effort session that keeps you engaged from start to finish, while full day trips (8 hours) give you the time to explore more water, adapt to changing conditions, and settle into a rhythm on the river.

Techniques & Approach

Expect to spend most of your time nymphing deeper runs and seams, with opportunities to adjust based on hatches and conditions. The White River rewards anglers who can make precise presentations, especially when targeting larger, more selective trout.

Your guide carries a full range of proven patterns, including local and custom flies that are specifically effective on this stretch of water.

The Setup

You’ll be fishing from a purpose-built drift boat designed for stability and efficient coverage of the river. The setup allows you to stay close to the action while comfortably working different angles throughout the day.

Trips are limited to a maximum of two anglers, keeping things focused and allowing for a more personalized experience.

Good to Know

This trip is best suited for anglers with some fly fishing experience who are looking to improve their skills in a more technical environment. Expect to stay engaged throughout the trip—it’s rewarding fishing, but it requires attention to detail.

If you’re ready to sharpen your technique and fish one of the most productive trout rivers in the South, this is a great way to do it.
