About Your Trip

If you’re new to fly fishing or looking to build a solid foundation, this guided trip on Arkansas’ White River is designed to get you comfortable and confident on the water.

Fishing below Bull Shoals Dam, the White River offers clear, cold water year-round and holds strong populations of rainbow, brown, cutthroat, and brook trout. It’s one of the best places in the South to learn, with forgiving water conditions and consistent fish activity.

The
Experience

These trips are built around learning while fishing. From the start, your guide will walk you through the basics—how to handle the rod, make an effective cast, and understand what the fish are doing.

You’ll spend the day wading and working through productive sections of river, practicing casting, improving your drift, and learning how to read water. The pace is relaxed and hands-on, with plenty of time to ask questions and build confidence without feeling rushed.

Half Day vs Full Day

Half day trips (4 hours) are a great introduction to fly fishing. You’ll get a focused session on the fundamentals, plenty of time casting on the water, and a solid shot at catching your first trout.

Full day trips (8 hours) give you more time to settle in and progress. With a full day, you’ll cover more water, build consistency in your casting, and gain a better understanding of how to adjust throughout changing conditions.

Techniques & Approach

Trips typically start with dry fly fishing since it’s visual and easier to learn, then may expand into simple nymphing techniques as the day goes on. Your guide handles the setup, fly selection, and adjustments so you can focus on learning and fishing.

The Setup

You’ll be equipped with beginner-friendly gear and fishing from accessible sections of river with manageable current and solid footing. Trips are kept small, typically limited to one or two anglers, so you get plenty of individual attention throughout the day.

Good to Know

This trip is ideal for beginners or newer anglers looking to build skills in a relaxed, supportive environment. Expect to stay engaged, learn throughout the day, and come away with a much better understanding of how to approach trout water.

If you’ve been wanting to learn fly fishing the right way, this is a great place to start.
