Discover why the Lower Bow River is considered a true “fly fisher’s paradise.” This full-day float focuses on some of the most productive stretches of water, offering consistent action and opportunities at larger, hard-fighting trout.

The Experience

You’ll float a prime section of the river from McKinnon Flats to Carseland, covering a variety of water types and targeting brown and rainbow trout throughout the day.

Trips typically run 10–12 hours, giving you the time to adjust to conditions and dial in the best approach. Whether it’s dry flies, nymphing, or streamers, your guide will adapt techniques to keep you in the action.

This is a more focused, fishing-forward trip designed for anglers looking to maximize time on the water and explore one of the Bow’s most productive sections.

What’s Included

All rods, reels, flies, and gear are provided, along with a shore lunch, drinks, snacks, and transportation. You’ll be fishing from a drift boat equipped to comfortably navigate and cover water throughout the day.

These trips are catch and release, helping preserve the quality of the fishery. Groups are kept small (typically two anglers) to ensure a personalized experience.

Gene is the owner, operator, and head guide with over 30 years of fly fishing experience and nearly two decades of guiding in Southern Alberta. Born and raised in Calgary, he knows these waters inside and out—especially the Bow River and surrounding fisheries.

His passion for fly fishing started early and has never slowed down, shaping the way he approaches every trip today. Whether you’re just getting started or have years of experience, Gene focuses on creating a trip that matches your goals while helping you improve along the way.

He takes a hands-on, instructional approach, offering as much or as little guidance as you need, all while keeping the day relaxed and enjoyable. Known for his consistency and local knowledge, Gene is focused on delivering a well-rounded experience both on and off the water.

Everything is included, but we also recommend bringing sunglasses, sunscreen, weather-appropriate clothing, and anything else you might want on the trip.

You'll need to buy a fishing license before getting out there. Find out more about licenses here.

This trip is managed by an outfitter. Gene will be your point of contact and you will go out with one of their guides.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

Cancel for free up to 14 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 14 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.

In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.

Once you've paid your deposit at checkout, we'll send you a QR Code boarding pass. Just show your guide your boarding pass on the day of the trip, they'll scan it, the remaining balance will transfer automatically, and you'll be all set to get out there. Just make sure you bring a cash tip for the guide!

In the event of inclement weather, our guides will check the conditions and make the final call on whether its safe to go on the trip. If they decide the trip needs to be postponed, we'll work closely with you to reschedule or provide a credit for the full deposit, which can be applied to any of our trips in the US and beyond.

Each trip's price is determined by the guide and reflects all associated costs. A significant factor in pricing is often the type of boat and the corresponding fuel expenses. Additional costs may include leases, marina or slip fees, and the expenses involved in providing and maintaining the necessary gear for your trip.
