About Your Trip

Fish the remote waters off Ucluelet on Vancouver Island’s west coast, targeting Chinook and Coho Salmon in a fishery known for both its productivity and scenery. These trips take you into areas only accessible by boat, where you’ll be trolling and adjusting depths and presentation to stay on active fish throughout the day.

You’ll be fishing with top-quality gear and tackle through established partnerships, using trusted names like Gamakatsu, Gibbs, Islander, Maxima, Njord, and more. Combined with your captain’s experience and knowledge, the focus is on keeping you in the right place, using the right approach, and giving you the best shot at success while learning along the way.

Your trip takes place aboard a 30’ Aluminum Offshore XL, built to handle west coast conditions while offering comfort with an enclosed cabin, private washroom, and plenty of deck space. Life jackets and all required safety equipment are onboard.

Fish cleaning is done on the boat, and your catch will be kept chilled in coolers with ice for the ride back. For guests staying in the area, additional processing and flash freezing can be arranged locally, with storage available until your departure.

Some snacks, water, and coffee are available onboard, and you’re welcome to bring any additional food or drinks you’d like. If bringing alcohol, it’s permitted while anchored—just avoid glass containers.

Before your trip, all anglers will need a valid tidal sport fishing license, which is best purchased online ahead of time.

Captain Josh is a lifelong angler with over 20 years of experience fishing the waters of British Columbia’s west coast. Growing up fishing the Vedder River, he developed a year-round passion for the sport early on, spending as much time as possible on the water.

Over the years, he’s fished extensively across the coast—from Sooke to Haida Gwaii—as well as numerous river systems throughout the region. His experience spans a wide range of species and techniques, giving him a deep understanding of how to adapt to changing conditions and consistently find fish.

He has also contributed to fisheries efforts through work with the Freshwater Fisheries Society, supporting steelhead enhancement programs. His knowledge of gear, tackle, and fishing methods is backed by years of hands-on experience, and he uses that to help clients not only catch fish but better understand the process.

Captain Josh runs trips with a focus on creating a comfortable, welcoming environment while keeping the day productive. Whether you’re new to fishing or have years of experience, his goal is to make sure you learn something, enjoy your time on the water, and come away with a memorable experience.

Everything is included, but we also recommend bringing sunglasses, sunscreen, weather-appropriate clothing, and anything else you might want on the trip.

You'll need to buy a fishing license before getting out there. Find out more about licenses here.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

Cancel for free up to 3 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 3 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.

In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.

In the event of inclement weather, our guides will check the conditions and make the final call on whether its safe to go on the trip. If they decide the trip needs to be postponed, we'll work closely with you to reschedule or provide a credit for the full deposit, which can be applied to any of our trips in the US and beyond.

Each trip's price is determined by the guide and reflects all associated costs. A significant factor in pricing is often the type of boat and the corresponding fuel expenses. Additional costs may include leases, marina or slip fees, and the expenses involved in providing and maintaining the necessary gear for your trip.
