About Your Trip

Cover productive water efficiently and access classic Maine trout and salmon runs from the comfort of a drift boat on this guided fly fishing trip through some of Western Maine’s premier river systems.

These trips are designed around fishing larger rivers where drifting allows anglers to reach productive seams, pools, and structure that are difficult to access on foot. Depending on season and conditions, trips may target wild brook trout, landlocked salmon, brown trout, rainbow
trout, and smallmouth bass throughout fisheries like the Kennebec River, West Branch Penobscot, and rivers within the Rangeley Region.

The drift boat format allows anglers to fish a wide variety of water throughout the day while adjusting techniques based on hatches, flows, and fish behavior. Depending on conditions, trips may involve dry flies, streamers, nymphing, or other presentations suited to the fishery and season.

Half-day trips offer a great introduction to these rivers, while full-day trips provide additional time to cover more water and fully experience the fishery.

All flies, terminal tackle, loaner rods, instruction, transportation within the fishing area, and shore lunch on full-day trips are included. Guests should bring a valid Maine fishing license along with weather-appropriate gear and any personal equipment they wish to fish with.

Independent Guide
Nicoli is a professional fly fishing guide residing in Kingfield, Maine since 2001. As an avid outdoorsman, you can usually find him pursuing trout and salmon on one of Maine's many fine rivers, or hunting the marshes and fields chasing ducks and geese as they migrate south. He cut his teeth fly fishing the challenging and productive Farmington River in NW Connecticut. After a fishing trip to the Rapid River with his Uncle Wayne in 1994, Nicoli knew that the Western Mountains of Maine was where he'd someday make his home. After a few trips to Colorado's South Platte River and the Roaring Fork of the Colorado River, experiencing the western guide culture, he knew he wanted to be a fly fishing guide. Fast forward to the present, and he is using his 25+ years of experience fishing Maine's fabled waters to fulfill his dream of hosting fly fishers from near and far in this great state he calls home. A registered Maine guide since 2010, his resume includes guiding for some of the most prestigious lodges and outfitters in Maine. With extensive knowledge of the Rangeley Region, the Kennebec River, and the West Branch of the Penobscot, Nicoli can provide a safe and memorable fishing adventure on some of the finest fly fishing waters in the country.
