About Your Trip

f you're looking to experience one of the Midwest's most famous Walleye fisheries, this Detroit River trip delivers some of the best action of the year. Join Captain Jay and target hard-fighting Walleye as they make their annual spring spawning run through the river, creating one of the most productive fisheries in the Great Lakes region.

Unlike trolling trips where the captain does much of the work, this is a hands-on fishing experience. You'll be
actively fishing your own rod throughout the trip, using proven vertical jigging techniques to target fish holding along the river's current breaks and structure. Captain Jay will teach you the presentation, help you stay on fish, and guide you through the process, but when a Walleye bites, it's all you.

April is the premier month for Detroit River Walleye fishing, with large numbers of fish moving through the system. While the average Walleye measures around 19 inches, fish pushing 30 inches are caught every season and provide an unforgettable fight. Depending on the time of year and conditions, you may also encounter Yellow Perch and White Bass.

You'll fish aboard a 19' Blue Fin aluminum fishing boat powered by a 115 HP Mercury engine. The boat is equipped with GPS, fish-finding electronics, a livewell, cooler space, and everything needed for a productive day on the water. With room for up to four anglers, it's an ideal setup for small groups looking for a personalized fishing experience.

Both morning and afternoon trips are approximately five hours dock-to-dock, or until the group reaches its legal limit. All rods, reels, tackle, bait, lures, and fish cleaning are included.

Just bring a valid Michigan fishing license, weather-appropriate clothing, and get ready to experience why the Detroit River is considered one of the top Walleye fisheries in North America.
