About Your Trip

Come experience why Weldon, North Carolina is known as the "Rockfish Capital of the World." Every spring, massive striped bass migrate up the Roanoke River to spawn, creating one of the most exciting freshwater fishing opportunities anywhere in the country.

For a short but spectacular window each year, these powerful fish flood into the river system, giving anglers the opportunity to target hard-fighting striped bass in incredible numbers. It's Captain Nick's favorite time of year,
and he'll work tirelessly to put you in the best possible position to experience the action firsthand.

These trips are built around versatility. Nick typically carries a large supply of live shad in the livewell along with multiple spinning outfits rigged with artificials, allowing him to adapt to changing conditions throughout the day. Whether fish are feeding aggressively on live bait, smashing topwater lures, or responding to soft plastics and flukes, you'll be ready when opportunities arise.

Trips are offered in both 5-hour and 8-hour formats. The 5-hour trip is perfect for anglers looking to experience the famous migration during a prime feeding window, while the 8-hour trip provides additional time to cover water, adjust to conditions, and maximize opportunities throughout the day. Guests on full-day trips are encouraged to bring lunch, snacks, and drinks.

Fishing takes place aboard a comfortable Carolina Skiff equipped with GPS, fishfinder, wireless trolling motor, live bait systems, and all the gear needed for a successful day on the river. The boat is wheelchair accessible and comfortably accommodates up to four anglers, with larger groups potentially available upon request.

All rods, reels, tackle, live bait, and lures are included. Just bring a valid North Carolina fishing license, sunglasses, sunscreen, and weather-appropriate clothing.

If you've ever wanted to experience one of America's most famous striped bass runs, there's no better place than Weldon in the spring. When the migration is on, it's easy to understand how this fishery earned its legendary reputation.
