About Your Trip

When conditions and the season call for a smaller setup, join Captain Derek aboard his 16' Alumacraft for a more mobile Lake Ontario fishing experience.

These trips give Derek the flexibility to target a variety of seasonal fisheries, including Perch, Brown Trout, Steelhead, Walleye, Smallmouth Bass, and staging fall Chinook Salmon. The exact game plan will depend on the time of year, current conditions, and what you're hoping to catch.

With a maximum of 2
anglers, these trips offer a more personalized day on the water and can be tailored around your preferred fishing style. Whether you're chasing fall Kings, working for cold-water Brown Trout and Steelhead, or looking to get into Perch, Walleye, or Smallmouth, Derek will build the trip around the best opportunities available.

All necessary fishing gear is provided, and Derek will clean your catch at the end of the trip. You'll need to bring your own fishing license, snacks, and drinks.

If you're looking for a flexible, hands-on way to experience Lake Ontario beyond the traditional summer trolling season, climb aboard and let Captain Derek put you on the bite!

Captain Derek grew up fishing the Finger Lakes and started competing in local trolling derbies alongside his father in the 1990s. In the early 2000s, he shifted his attention toward Lake Ontario and has been chasing Salmon, Trout, and other Great Lakes species ever since.

Over the years, Derek has earned numerous big-fish awards throughout the Finger Lakes and Lake Ontario while developing his approach to Great Lakes trolling. In 2023, he added a pro-division tournament victory at the Tri-Counties
West Summer Classic to his accomplishments.

Today, Derek fishes Lake Ontario throughout the seasons, running his larger boat for Salmon and Trout trolling and switching to a smaller Alumacraft when the season calls for Perch, Brown Trout, Steelhead, Walleye, Smallmouth Bass, or staging fall Kings.

Whether you're an experienced Great Lakes fisherman or making your first trip to Lake Ontario, Derek is ready to share his knowledge and put you in position for a memorable day on the water.
