About Your Trip

1. Meet at the Dock & Get on the Water

Meet Capt. Cody at Bluff’s Landing in Corpus Christi, TX. We’ll get everyone settled aboard the 21’ Marshal Cat, go over the plan for the day, and head out toward the Laguna Madre or Baffin Bay based on the conditions.

2. Fish & Learn

We’ll spend the majority of the trip targeting speckled trout, redfish, flounder, and black drum. Depending on the trip you book, we’ll fish with live croaker or live shrimp, or chase trout and redfish with artificial lures. I’ll show you how to read the water, locate fish, and properly present your bait or lure.

3. Finish Strong & Head Back

We’ll spend the final part of the trip working the most productive areas before heading back to Bluff’s Landing. Once we return, I’ll clean and bag your fish so you’re ready to take your catch home and enjoy the rest of your day.

Trips are available year-round, weather permitting. Ice and bottled water are provided, with your drink of choice available upon request. 🎣

Hi I’m Cody a USCG-approved captain for 5 years, with more than 12 years of experience fishing the waters from the Laguna Madre to Baffin Bay. My passion is chasing big speckled trout, especially the legendary “gator trout” that call these waters home.

I specialize in artificial-lure wade fishing, particularly during the spring through winter months when some of the biggest trout of the year can be caught. My goal isn’t just to put fish in the boat—it’s to teach you how I read the water and find fish so you leave the trip with knowledge you can use for years to come.

During our trip, I’ll teach you how to identify productive water, understand what different areas are telling you, and properly present your lure to each spot we fish. Whether we’re working tails and Corky Fat Boys around the rocks of Baffin Bay or working lures across the white potholes and beautiful flats of the Laguna Madre, I’ll show you the techniques I use to hunt big trout.

🌊 Artificial-Lure Wade Fishing

If you’re looking to learn the art of wade fishing, come chase trout with me on an artificial-lure wade fishing trip.

I provide all lures and tackle, but clients must bring their own rods and reels.

Don’t have a rod and reel? Rod and reel rental is available for $75.

These trips are about more than just catching fish. I’ll teach you how to read the flats, identify productive water, choose the right lure, and make the proper presentation in different situations.

🚤 The Boat

I fish out of a 21’ Marshal Cat powered by a 150 HP Suzuki SS outboard, with plenty of room for 1–4 clients to comfortably enjoy the day on the water.

Every trip includes ice and bottled water, and I’ll be happy to provide your drink of choice upon request.

At the end of the day, I’ll clean and bag your fish before we say our goodbyes.

Everything is included, but we also recommend bringing sunglasses, sunscreen, weather-appropriate clothing, and anything else you might want on the trip.

You'll need to buy a fishing license before getting out there. Find out more about licenses here.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

Cancel for free up to 3 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 3 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.

In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.
