Rockport and Corpus Christi are home to several productive inshore bays and canals that are prime spots for catching some tasty Gulf fish without a lock trip from the dock. On this trip, Captain Jerry will take you out on inshore waters such as the Corpus Christi Bay, Aransas Bay and Redfish Bay where you'll be going after exciting bay fish such as Black Drum, Flounder, Redfish, and Speckled Trout. You'll be targeting these fish using light tackle, heavy tackle, or by doing some bottom fishing. If you're looking for a real deal saltwater flyfishing adventure, look no further than Captain Dylan. Dylan lives and breaths flyfishing and moves all around texas to follow the best fishing in season. For his saltwater trips, Captain Dylan usually runs out of Rockport, Texas. However, dependent on various situations and/or time of year—we may fish as far south as Aransas Pass and as far north as Port O’ Connor. Primarily, we will be sight casting for redfish in shallow water with the occasional shot at Black Drum, Speckled Trout, Flounder & Sheepshead. In the spring and summer, when the tides are up, we will have opportunities at Bull Reds and Jack Crevalle in the bay. In terms of gear, Captain Dylan encourages you to bring your own gear, but can also supply you with everything you if need be. If you would prefer to bring your own rod, a 7-8 wt rod with floating line is ideal. On occasion, a larger setup (10-12 wt) may be needed for over Slot Bull Reds, Big Jacks, and even Tarpon. You can go over all these details with Dylan in the days leading up to your trip, you can let Captain Dylan know what you have and what you don't have and he can fill in the gaps. Dylan will supply his own hand-tied flies specifically crafted based on the depth and clarity of the water for the given day. Simple shrimp and crab patterns in various different colors and sizes are go-to's for the texas coast. This is an Artificial Only wade trip. We will leave the launch around 6 am and will return around 12pm. We will be fishing from a 2020 Tournament Edition CCB Grande with updated GPS and fish finder. While fishing we will be targeting Redfish, Flounder, Sea Trout, and Black Drum. I will clean all fish for you after the day of fishing. I strive for conservation of the local fishery therefore since the 2021 freeze even though regulations have returned to normal, I have a rule of 3 Trout maximum of 15"-20" to be kept. All oversized Trout and Redfish will be Catch, Photo, Release. I will supply all light tackle rods, reels, and lures needed for you to enjoy your day of fishing. You will NEED to bring your waders/boots. You will need to wear Sun Protection (Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses). I will provide water and Gatorade. You will need to provide your own snacks. Growing up in a ranching family that has been in the Victoria, Texas area since the 1870s, James developed early on a deep appreciation for the land and wildlife. His passion for fishing the Gulf coast comes from spending weekends and summers in Rockport, Texas. There he began crafting his fishing skills at age 4 with his father, along the San Antonio Bay system south to Lower Laguna Madre. After attending Southwest Texas University, James obtained his Captain's license in 2005 to share his knowledge and experience on the water with others. In addition to conventional fishing, James has been an avid fly fisherman for 15 years. He has spent time in the Bahamas learning new techniques for fly casting, which he can pass along to fly-fishing clients at any level. His knack for teaching first timers with his carefree, relaxed attitude will make learning to fish a memorable and rewarding experience. Capt. This trip is wade fishing or drift fishing only with artificial lures. My wade fishing trips are typically a 4-5hr trip for a half day. Clients bring their own rod, reel and waders if needed. I can provide wade boxes and lures. My personal rods are available with a deposit that is non refundable if the reel touches the water. We will start our morning with a short boat ride to a flat or back lake to locate fish. I will help teach you how to attack an area with the wind, structure and how to present the bait to fish.
