About Your Trip

Fish for salmon in Discovery Passage, right off Campbell River, BC, the Salmon Capital of the World. We leave from Coast Marina and are fishing within minutes; there's no long run to the grounds. This is an 8-hour full day for up to 4 guests on a private charter. Start times follow the season, from about 6 AM in summer to 8 AM in winter.

You fish aboard a 27-foot Boston Whaler Conquest with a
heated cabin, onboard washroom and Starlink WiFi, so you stay comfortable in any weather. Your captain runs the boat and handles the rigging, netting and coaching. All rods, reels, tackle, bait and safety gear are included, and we clean and bag your catch for your cooler.

We troll with downriggers using flashers, hootchies and spoons, working the tides around Discovery Passage, Cape Mudge and Quadra Island. Mid-October through March is winter Chinook season: local resident Chinook that feed here all winter, with quiet water and few boats around. From spring into summer, Chinook move through on their way to the rivers, and hatchery Coho open on June 1. We follow DFO rules exactly. Chinook are catch-and-release until July 15 and retention opens then; winter Chinook are 2 per day, minimum 62 cm.

Everyone is welcome, from first-timers and kids to experienced anglers. We teach as much or as little as you like. You'll need a BC tidal fishing licence, which you can buy online from DFO before the trip.
