Guatemala’s Pacific coast is a world-renowned billfishing destination, famous for calm waters and unparalleled Sailfish action. Peak season (October–June) delivers 15–20 Sailfish bites per day, with some anglers experiencing up to 40. Top boats in the region release over 2,000 Sailfish annually! While Sailfish are the main draw, the area also boasts massive Tuna and Marlin. Blue Marlin in the 300–600 pound range are common, and September through December is especially productive for Marlin fishing, though they’re available year-round. If you’re chasing a personal best or nonstop action, this trip is for you.

Your fishing grounds include "The Pocket," a 30-nautical-mile-wide underwater canyon teeming with life. Most days, Captain Ozzy starts just 12–15 miles offshore, but he’s ready to go as far as 40 miles out to find the best bite. You’ll target Sailfish, Blue Marlin, Striped Marlin, Black Marlin, and more. It’s not uncommon for top captains to raise four or more Marlin in a single day, making this destination a bucket-list spot for anglers worldwide.

Fishing methods include trolling, jigging, bottom fishing, and both light and heavy tackle. For a unique challenge, you can also opt for fly fishing. Billfish are targeted using artificial teasers and natural bait like ballyhoo, all rigged with conservation-friendly circle hooks. Shimano stand-up tackle (20–50 lb class) ensures top performance. Guatemala is a leader in marine conservation, with all billfishing strictly catch-and-release to preserve the fishery for years to come.

With the "Standard Package," Captain Ozzy accommodates up to four anglers aboard his Catamaran sportfisher, powered by twin Suzuki 250HP engines and cruising at 38 knots for quick access to the fishing grounds. The boat is equipped with all the essentials, including a cabin with a full-size bed for added comfort. Every trip is led by an experienced captain and two skilled mates, ensuring top-tier service and a seamless fishing experience. Fishing trips run from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM, during which you’ll enjoy hot lunches, fresh ceviche or sashimi prepared onboard, snacks, and beverages including beer, rum/vodka, sodas, Gatorade, and bottled water. Book a trip to experience the best Sailfishing in the world. 15-20 eats/day is par for the course, while 40 daily bites is common most of the year from October through June . These Pacific Sailfish average 90 to 100 pounds, but sailfish over 125 pounds are common.

Bill fishing in Guatemala takes place only 12-40 miles offshore in the "Pocket", a deep underwater canyon just off the Guatemalan Pacific coast.

Marlin fishing out of Puerto Quetzal is especially renowned. Blue Marlin, Striped Marlin and Black Marlin are all caught with relative consistency, with 300-600 pound Blue Marlin proving most common. Marlin fishing is hottest from September through December.

You'll need to buy a fishing license before getting out there. Find out more about licenses here.
This trip is managed by an outfitter. Ozzy will be your point of contact and you will go out with one of their guides.
We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).
Cancel for free up to 30 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 30 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.
In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.
