Guatemala’s Pacific coast is famous for its calm, productive waters, making it one of the top Sailfishing destinations globally. In Puerto Quetzal, anglers often enjoy 15–20 Sailfish bites per day, with peak season (October–June) offering up to 40 bites in a single outing. The top boats catch and release over 2,000 Sailfish annually! While Sailfish are the stars of the show, the waters are also home to massive Tuna and Marlin. Blue Marlin in the 300–600 pound range are common, and top captains often raise four or more Marlin in a single day during the prime Marlin season from September through December.

Your fishing grounds will include “The Pocket,” a deep, 30-nautical-mile-wide underwater canyon teeming with life. Most days, Captain Ozzy will start you just 12–15 miles offshore at the canyon’s edge, though he’ll go as far as 40 miles out if necessary to find the bite. You’ll target Sailfish, Blue Marlin, Striped Marlin, Black Marlin, and other species using various techniques like trolling, jigging, bottom fishing, and light or heavy tackle. For those seeking a unique challenge, fly fishing is also an option. Billfish are targeted with artificial teasers and rigged natural baits like ballyhoo. Quality Shimano stand-up tackle (20–50 pound class) is provided, and conservation is prioritized with circle hooks and a strict catch-and-release policy for all billfish, ensuring these waters remain a haven for anglers.

With the “Standard Package,” Captain Ozzy accommodates up to four anglers aboard his Catamaran sportfisher, powered by twin Suzuki 250HP engines and cruising at a speedy 38 knots to get you to the fishing grounds quickly. The boat features all the essentials for a great day on the water, including a cabin with a full-size bed for added comfort. Each trip is led by a professional crew, including an experienced captain and two skilled mates. Fishing trips run from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM, during which you’ll be treated to hot lunches, fresh ceviche or sashimi prepared in the galley, snacks, and beverages like beer, rum/vodka, sodas, Gatorade, and bottled water. From the service to the setup, this trip delivers resort-level luxury on the water.

Book a trip to experience the best Sailfishing in the world. 15-20 eats/day is par for the course, while 40 daily bites is common most of the year from October through June . These Pacific Sailfish average 90 to 100 pounds, but sailfish over 125 pounds are common.

Bill fishing in Guatemala takes place only 12-40 miles offshore in the "Pocket", a deep underwater canyon just off the Guatemalan Pacific coast.

Marlin fishing out of Puerto Quetzal is especially renowned. Blue Marlin, Striped Marlin and Black Marlin are all caught with relative consistency, with 300-600 pound Blue Marlin proving most common. Marlin fishing is hottest from September through December.
